A Path to Peace In Our Time

A Brief Fantasy
Imagine you are aboard “Spaceship Earth” and Jean Luc Picard is the captain. You are aware that 99% of the people on board want peace, yet the 1% who don’t have succeeded in institutionalizing war and other forms of violence for thousands of years.

You go to the Captain and tell him, “The crew is clamoring for peace. What’s to be done?”

To which he concisely replies, “About time. Make it so!.”

Will You Accept the Challenge?
Do you know what to do? Have you thought about it? You’ve seen the ubiquitous bumper sticker that says, “VISUALIZE PEACE”. Have you taken the time to do this? Why not?

Chances are the reason you’ve not visualized peace is because you don’t know where to start. For most of your life you’ve been mis-educated to believe that war and other forms of violence are inevitable – just part of “human nature”. This assertion is a lie.

In the last 40+ years I’ve asked thousands of people what they want most. And the answer that is most consistent, regardless of the individual’s background, is that people want to peacefully live their lives without being threatened, bullied, coerced, robbed, or murdered. To most people, all the other challenges of life seem trivial by comparison.

On Reflection
When you think about it, doesn’t it seem a little strange that a species as intelligent as ours hasn’t learned to live in peace in the eight thousand years or so that have passed since the invention of government? In fact, over the last century some 260,000,000 people have been killed by their own governments – not counting casualties of war. What does this tell you about the nature of government?

Do you think it coincidental that our esteemed president Obama, recipient of the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize. has bombed someone every 20 minutes of every day, around the clock, for the past year? Haven’t you asked yourself, “What the f*** is going on here?”

Qui Bono?
Let’s consider who benefits from all this violence.
Military hardware manufacturers – especially bomb and bomber aircraft manufacturers, their owners, sub-contractors, and commissioned sales people, Employees of aforesaid manufacturers, Authorizing politicians lobbied bribed to broker weapons sales, Military personnel who orchestrate, support, and carry out the bombing, Opium growers and dealers whose fields are guarded by US soldiers, Other “intelligence” personnel who “justify” the violence, A lot of psychopathic killers who work for the above instigators.

Have I missed anyone? – Probably. While the above list is pretty extensive, the actual number benefiting is minuscule compared with the numbers killed, maimed, poisoned, or otherwise ruined by the killing, looting, raping, and pillaging that results. Yet it is the influence of these few that is wrecking the lives of the rest of us.

No, You Are Not Helpless
Despite your belief to the contrary, you are not helpless to make a real difference to what is happening in the world. The idea that you are helpless is just another piece of government propaganda, perpetuated by schools, television, movies, magazines, political pronouncements, campaign rhetoric, and online “trolls”. The reality is far different.

In 1981 John David Garcia began a 20 year study of the problem described above – a study in which I participated for the last 17 years – until Garcia’s death in 2001. During this period we conducted extensive experimental research to design a method of sustaining an ethical society. John David published the results of his initial work in 1984, in a book called, Creative Transformation.

The upshot or takeaway from this experience is that the answer to the big problem has been found. The mystery of what’s to be done has been solved. In short we know how to resolve conflict between two people and can “map” that solution onto a group of 8 people quite reliably. Once we have an ethical society of 8 people (an Octologue), we can extend the mapping to any number by ethically combining groups of 8 into bigger groups (HoloMats). There is no limit to the size of a HoloMat.

Choose Wisely…
It’s up to you now. You can forget you read this material and continue telling yourself that there is no solution – that resistance to the B.O.R.G. is futile, that humanity is doomed, etc. etc.
