As a sports bettor, one of the reasons I got more into crypto currency is because of projects like Augur, gnosis, wagerr and Bookie.io.

Still they are a long way ahead from being able to compeat with the asian bookmakers. One day there will probably be a Betfair killer who offers a similar service on a blockchain with much lower fees.
