THE DEATH OF JOSEPH ISRAEL

in people •  7 years ago

Late last night, I found out that Joseph Israel died on March 2nd of this year.

I was first exposed to the music of Joseph Israel over a decade ago. A longtime fan of reggae myself, a friend of mine in Wisconsin had given me a CD of his to check out. While I did enjoy it at the time, it wasn't until recently that I actually began really listening to his music. After hearing him mention Arkansas in an interview I was watching on YouTube last night, I decided to google his name to find out more information about him. It was at that time I learned that he had just died. In the video below, I share some of my thoughts and reflections.

MY REACTION AND THOUGHTS

A FEW OF MY FAVORITE SONGS BY JOSEPH ISRAEL

"Gone are the Days" was the album that I first heard from Joseph Israel. Lately I've been checking out some of his other music on YouTube and enjoying a lot of what I hear. While it is sad to reflect that his musical ministry on earth has ended, the music and the message will continue, and Joseph finished his race here. These are just a few of my favorites. Enjoy.

Until next time…

I played music with Joseph years ago, when we were both young here in Fayetteville. I think the last time I saw him was at the Buffalo river, probably 10 years ago. He will be greatly missed in this community. Thanks for preserving his music in the blockchain here!

I was just in Fayetteville earlier today. Somehow it doesn't surprise me that you've met and played with him. Thanks man.

I'm sure as a musician he is pleased that people remember and share his music after passing. I think even though we do not realize it we all want to leave something behind that is a contribution to others.

Yeah, it is certainly nice to leave something behind, besides family. Thanks!

Raggae is not just a music. It is a way of life.

what causes it he can dieor he had the disease.

Cancer.

cancer is a very dangerous disease,
if we get the disease, we should immediately treat it.

@papa-pepper still new in this community you are one of the best people that keep me going your various post and video has been motivating me thanks sir for everything.

I remember reading about his death around March 3rd. I feel a terrible sense of loss for a very talented man. His music and message will live on. May he rest in joyful peace with the Lord.

As reggae music goes I think of the Caribbean. I will have to check this guy out. Thanks

That was pretty amazing. I listened to snips of them, and I can honestly say I have never heard reggae for the Lord. That was sweet.

There are some good ones out there. You might like Christafari too. This is one of my favorite Christafari videos.

Sweet! My sister introduced me to a band called burlap to cashmere recently and a song digee dime. I love it!

@papa-pepper, I have never really listened to Raggae before, but have enjoyed this music this morning. What a wonderful tribute and a personal testimony of your own awakening. God bless and keep you on the chosen path. Shalom Shalom, Namaste

hopefully rest in peace

So sorry to hear of the death of Joseph Israel- his songs are great and he will live on thru his music. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

I do not know him. But many musicians or singers have forgotten over time. One of my favorite songs is the love songs of 80's..

Wow pleasant music worth listening to,though is my first time of hearing it. Thanks to my steemit role model (papa pepper ) for sharing this great memories.

So sad such a talented person is gone. I haven't heard his name before, which is quite strange. I love his style of music; reggae, which is all the more amazing, seeing they are made into Christian songs. My network is so terrible, i was only able to listen to "The Son", and a little part in "Jerusalem". You have an amazing choice in music too Papa.

Good music with a good message is what I like!

That is more than good for me, Papa.

He symbolizes the Nigerian #Bobmali whom everyone loved dearly too.
The music inspiring, breathing the patriotism spirit in every one, also speaking of Christ, so he is different from other circular musicians. Very nice.

Yes, music with a real message of truth and hope is important in the world today! Thanks @lizbethk!
