Two went out

Two went out.

One in a state of respite.
One to a state to rest a bit.

There was a third.
A strange old bird.
To say much more would be absurd.

One went willingly but reserved.
The other with vision blurred.

We stood bye.
We dazed looks in our eyes.
Once again, waving our good-byes.

Our new found land,
Turned to quicksand.

We sought for reason.
Felt the sharp bite of treason.
The ushering in of a new season.

We understood the “Why”.
Disgruntled, I wish not to lie.

Knowing this was permanent.
Trusting this was Heaven sent.
Still, a feeling of abandonment.

Two went out, yet four remained.
