in permaculture •  6 years ago

Happy New Year! Woohoo, 2019!

Y'all don't forget the CONTESTS built into this series. One SBI for a name, five for the needle! That makes thirty one shares for the series if someone claims the prize before the post pays out.

Congrats, @senstless for finding the needle on the Rhubarb card!

On to today's featured permaculture tidbit!

Huuuugelkultur!!!!!

Let's work out a function stack of hugelkultur beds real quick. (Hint: it's not gonna be real quick)

  1. No irrigation necessary: check.
  2. Raised bed: check.
  3. Fertilizer: check.
  4. Compost: check.
  5. Worm food and atrractant: check.
  6. Badass awesome way to attract, embrace, and incorporate fungi into your soil.
  7. Long life: check.
  8. Keeps things out of the landfill: check.
  9. Sequester carbon: check.
  10. Rescue the entirety of the planet because it can be used anywhere from your yard to the Mojave desert and restore forests and grow food and help reverse greenhouse gas emissions in a completely sustainable fashion: check.

All by burying some sticks!

Can you see why Nate likes hugelkultur? Hugelkultur all the things! Like lawn clippings. And leaves. Did y'all know that stuff goes to the landfill? So bury your lawn clippings and leaves to join an incredible function stacking permaculture movement! Save the earth and grow some damn good food sustainably!

Be blessed.
Be fruitful.
Stay relevant.

Nate.
