Y'all don't forget the CONTESTS built into this series. One SBI for a name, five for the needle! That makes thirty one shares for the series if someone claims the prize before the post pays out.
Congrats, @senstless for finding the needle on the Rhubarb card!
On to today's featured permaculturist!
Jean Pain!
Woah, did y'all read that one?
Talk about sustainability! Powering all that with compost? That's a heroic notion. And using brush from fire-prone areas to fuel the compost is really a relevant idea nowadays. I wonder who in California could adopt such a massive approach to fire prevention and eco sustainability. The card does nothing to mention the enormous carbon sequestration that would go on in such a system.
For US folks, that ten kilos of brush is like 25 pounds. That's a pretty awesome conversion rate really. "100% of his energy needs!" All his vehicle fuel. All his electricity. All his natural gas. All with a new compost pile every year and a half. Does that sound as fiscally amazing to y'all as it does to me? How much money is that? In exchange for maybe a week of labor making and setting up the pile every year and a half? Wheels are turning...
It's odd to think about, but I've got almost that much compost cooking right now. About half of that amount by quick guessing. Each of my piles is over 2m round by 1m high. And I'm on half an acre, and that's nowhere near as much compost as it sounds. It's not half of what I need.
This is absurdly inspirational...
Anyone have any information on what kind of infrastructure this would need? Some kind of capture system for the methane, a grid of stainless steel tubing to put in the pile, a methane engine to generate electricity. This has a lot of ideas going in my mind. I'm getting excited about this and wondering about the possibilities. Let's talk about this stuff!
Be blessed.
Be fruitful.
Stay relevant.
Nate.
