When I Met Kurt Vonnegut.

The first and only time I met Kurt Vonnegut, I was waiting for the Met to open up on what was a very early morning for me – when out of nowhere, I hear my Dad exclaim, “Evan! Look! It’s Kurt Vonnegut!” and I froze and watched the man in question pass, then breathed again when I knew he was gone.

Then my Dad mused – “Where is he?”

And I turned around and he was right there, right behind me – looming and glowering – and so I kept on turning, my back as stiff as an arrow.

Vonnegut is my all-time favorite. Such an amazing (and at times dark) sense of humor from such a caring person.

He knew how to do it, didn't he?

Do you have a favorite of his?

Good question! I don't! The recurring themes and characters make it even more difficult to pick. I really liked A Man Without A Country, but it was a very different style. Looking at the list of works on wikipedia, it appears I still have some to read and enjoy! What are your favorites?

It is nice when he starts to build like that, isn't it?

I have a bit of a soft spot for Slaughterhouse 5 because my Grandfather was also in Germany around the same time.

(Lots to read -- never a bad thing!)

That's a great one and the first I read (and how I learned about the firebombing of Dresden).
