A somehat befuddled introduction

Well now this is something different!

I was a blogger way back when, but the rise of Facebook kind of killed that off I'm afraid. Still, the idea has always appealed to me, even if I can't exactly say why. Do I even have anything worth saying?

To that question, I answer with a hearty, "Who knows?"

But why Steemit? Well, I've been trying to disentangle myself from Google lately. I've quit Chrome (using Brave for now, and I like it), routinely opt for alternative search engines (lately, DuckDuckGo), and am considering putting an end to my long-time Gmail address. It was in my hunt for Google alternatives that I stumbled on Steemit.

Now, truth be told, I don't actually understand Steemit. I don't get the whole blockchain thing, so I will have to do some studying up I suppose.

But anyway, here am I. If I can make this thing a part of my routine, I will show up frequently to post comments, share stuff I'm interested in, etc. Nothing earthshaking. I'm hoping to grow into this, developing my blogging identity as I go (you might say). Oh, and if anyone wants to explain how "Steem" works, by all means help me out here!
