Petro is the Venezuelan national currency based on the price of a barrel of oil produced by the country. President Maduro just announced that the country will begin selling its scarce resources for petro.
Petro is the new fiat (or not)
Announced in October 2017 and launched in February 2018, the petro is the first state-owned cryptomoney to be launched to date.
After deciding to pay the Christmas bonus of public servants and pensioners in Petro in order to force its adoption, the president of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro announced to a local media that Venezuela would realize the sales of oil as well as part of the gold produced in the country in petro.
"We have already signed contracts for the sale of oil, steel, iron and aluminum, and we will sell some of the gold for petros," he said.
According to the Venezuelan President, the state crypto currency was successfully adopted by the population, despite a divergent opinion expressed by various experts.
Nicolás Madur
The Petro is a marvel and a miracle that reaches our workers and retired workers of the country in order to make their purchases. It is a unique and extraordinary new experience of our economy. We are an example to the world!

Cryptomonnaies: the solution for Venezuela
Venezuela has been affected for several years by a hyperinflation of the bolivar, its national currency.
Cryptomonnayas seem to be a perfect solution for the Venezuelan people who do not want their economies or purchasing power to be attacked by inflation. Bitcoin, for example, is experiencing strong demand from Venezuela, as evidenced by the volumes registered by the platform LocalBitcoins.
