Kiemis shed its skin today.

This morning we were greeted with a delightful scene in the terrarium. Our pet snake Kiemurainen had shed its skin, and it looked like it had made a lot of new tunnels in the night.

Certainly looks as if the medicine injection is working. Well, today we'll have to administer the second injection.

It's very active today. Just moments ago it decided my sleeve was the place to inspect, so it slithered into my back quite fast and didn't want to leave or let go of my shirt, trying to grasp onto it with its tail.

Kiemis is now one meter long judging by the length of its shedded skin.

More later, see ya guys!

Woah, how do you get manage with a pet snakes. I fear snakes a lot. It looks beautiful. And that skin change, is so lovely.

Our Bearded Dragon get lethargic before it sheds...then gets wild after. Glad to see he is doing better!

Excellent photos @gamer00 and immediately you can see that your snake has been molted and now I think its new skin will be new and smooth. In addition, the Kiemis will become calmer and will have a good appetite!

it looks so cute but I'm afraid from the snakes :(

There's no need to fear Kiemis, because it doesn't bite. It is very kind snake.

from your words i remembered russian meme :

dont worry he will only sniff you :)

Too bad we can't get as ferocious pic of Kiemurainen. ;D

Did not you have the luck to see him change his skin?
You installed a camera close to him to see all his movements

No I didn't... I should probably do that. I'll take that into consideration. :) Good idea.

When you put the camera you will see things you have not seen before your snake does it

Reminder: Did you see my designs yesterday?

Hmm... Oh yeah, I did visit and followed you too. I found one logo design which looked kind of good, but I didn't have the energy to carry on as it was getting pretty late. I'll check again today. :)

Well my friend, I'll wait for your opinion Eagerly

Kiemurainen can grow up to how many meters ?
@gamer00

If a male, it'll be up to 120 centimeters long, while a female can grow up to 150 centimeters long.

there is only a small distance to complete the maximum length

Yea well, we'll see it in 1,5 years when it's full grown. :)

I'm going to buy a spider monkey.

I like to feed rare animals, but the snake requires courage

Cool, what kind of animal is a spider monkey?

I don't think our cornsnake requires any courage, its teeth resemble those of a fish, and it doesn't even use them for biting, as it's very docile and kind. :)

Great to see that your Kiemurainen is recovering, but now I am curious about that name. cool colors by the way.

"Kiemurainen" means "Squiggly" or "Squiggles" in English. :) Edit: "Kiemis" means "Squiggles".

I have already seen a video tape for this process
It is a process called the snatch has several benefits to the snake, the first is replaced by the old dress that has been worn and torn
Second, the serpent gets rid of the parasites
When doing this process avoid eating and expand in a safe place to begin to take off his dress before the skin color change becomes pale and dry
And dark eyes become the surface of his inner skin begins to melt, which makes the old dress is separated from the new dress after several days begins the snake to get out of the old dress and takes in the erosion and rubbing his body coarse surfaces until the old dress is thrown one piece like old jug usually removes the snake from the head But some snakes take off their wings from the side of the tail
The old snake is raised once or twice a year. Small snakes are exposed four times a year

Very cute pet snake. Yeah...medicine injection correctly working I've seen. sheds skin today. Now Kiemis some bigger.

Whao, I am happy Kiemis is getting better. Also, what would you do with the skin? Keep or throwaway?

:)

Well we do not have any use for the skin so we tend to throw it away.

That skin is too beautiful to be thrown away. There may be use for it.

The shedded skin does dry up and become unuseful pretty soon. I have no idea what one would use the thin outer layer for anyway. Maybe someone knows better, but I'm not qualified to do anything with it. ;)

It's too thin to make boots from.

Reps. ;D

@gamer00, you are really different, very few one has pet as snake, your Kiemis is beautiful....thanks for sharing!

Haha, my friend bought a pet snake a week ago and it's adorable, even though it's quite bigger than your snake! I think I'm starting to like snakes, even though I always found them disgusting, because of their skin :D Cool snake man :)

Bigger? It must be a giant strangler snake then. :)

I didn't like snakes either, not before we got Kiemurainen.

YES! Strangler, exactly! I just forgot what they're called in English...
I guess you gotta be around one of them to like them :P

good to see your snake is back to normal. medicine works ;) @gamer00

@resteemia
reteemed & upvoted & commented & followed

Thank you. :)

@gamer00 - Sir nice to hear that your pet snake is now active as usual... It's lucky to have people who loves it... Otherwise who is giving medicine (inject) to a snake... I think they grow more Sir... Probably 3-5m they grow if I'm not mistaken... Nice photography of your pet snake Sir...

+W+

Well, um... Cornsnakes grow only upto 120 cm if they are males and up to 150 cm if they are females, so they are pretty normal sized snakes

@gamer00,
Kiemurainen had shed its skin
He is refreshing :D How long it will grow?

Cheers~

About 120 to 150 centimeters, depending on gender. Males grow up to 120 cm, while females can grow up to 150 cm long.

We suspect our Kiemis is a female, judging by the advice on this page.

We cant say how long it will grow ..that is depending up on the food that eat and depends upon the which breed that related to ..

Well, in a matter of fact we can.

The important thing is that the injection works. Did you buy the 100W lamp to keep the terrarium at 28°? or it was not necessary.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Turned out it wasn't necessary, the halogen we had raised the temperature to almost 30 degrees, and I bought a 50 Watt UV lamp to keep the temperature over night so that the light doesn't disturb Kiemurainen.

Hello @gamer00,

How do you do it, that snake does not bite?

Happy new year. @yaanivapeji

Happy New Year to you too! :)

Kiemis isn't actually a biting kind of a snake as it's a strangler, its teeth are similar to those of a fish, and while it could use them in theory, in practice it never does (unless when eating a mouse to help it go down).

So while it is possible it could bite, its teeth are small enough to not cause any serious damage to the skin, so we are not very concerned about them. :)

Ok. This is my first time am hearing that some snakes don't really bite.

I'm still trying to figure out how to make an injection to a snake.
And does it hurt too much? Poor snake.

The injection goes between its scales, about third of its length from its head. It does seem to hurt, at least judging by the convulsions it makes while injecting. That's sad, but has to be done if it's to recover from its cold.

Anyway, as soon as the injection is done, Kiemis acts like nothing happened. Shows how long lasting memory these creatures have.

By the way is it she or he? Cause at first I've called her a "Sir" :d
I wonder how big can it grow.
Because one day you will wake up and there will be a freaking anaconda in your terrarium.

We suspect it (see I'm not 100% sure yet) is a she judging by what we read on the internet.

An anaconda!? Woah!!! ;)

Your pet, Our Pet just shed skin. It's wonderful although I don't really know much about snakes and the reason they shed their skin or let me just say I don't remember but it's a good thing and that's why you posted it. It's good to know Kiemis is doing fine..

Such a kool snake!
can anything be done with the shed skin or is it basically just garbage?

I pretty much answered this same question already, but to re-cap, nope I don't think its shed skin is thick enough to be useful. When people talk about snake skin boots or something they likely mean skinning instead of shedding. Skinning is the process where the whole hide is removed from the snake. A properly skinned and tanned snake hide can then be used as material for boots or even laptop cover skin.

Anyway I guess there are some environmentalists here so I'm not advocating this stuff. (And I wouldn't do it to Kiemis, it's a member of our family now.)

oh i didnt see the other person asking.
:D

im glad ur not going to kill your snake for its skin, kill the ones that bite not the pets.
lol

Wow! Some pet with very long name! And you have to be his doctor!
I hope he is nice and obedient! I reckon he knows you very well. So, there is no chance of him biting or hurting you!
Take care all the same.

Heh... snakes can't be very obedient, they have very small brains and they wouldn't understand how to obey. They just go by their instinct. ;)

I think Kiemurainen's instinct is that we are not going to hurt it.

Glad to hear that! The brain being so small ... that really explains why I cannot communicate with ants here. I could communicate with geckos, and the local green snake, cats and dogs! Never could talk to ants!
Thanks.

I think it is very difficult to handle the snake. Kiemis looks very nice to see. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

I'm scared to death by snakes and spiders.
Even though I can handle touching or grabbing with my hand. But stilll its scaryyyy. Everytime I try my best to overcome my fear, it still feels just too much.

I'm afraid of a snake. Superm Kimurainen has torn his skin, and fears a lot of fear of his skin. Looking forward to the second injection.

Snakes are dangerous.

Many snakes are, yes... Our Kiemurainen on the other hand is a docile and kind, poisonless strangler snake, it does harm to no-one. :)

thanks for telling!

Snakes play an important role in the balance of our ecosystem and that is why we must preserve the different species of snakes, since there are several of them that are in danger of extinction.
We must understand that not all snakes are poisonous, so they do not represent any danger to humans; besides, the serpent only attacks the human being if it is threatened.
Some species of snakes are considered good for pets, this is because they are silent, exotic and do not need to be fed daily

Beautiful work @gamer00 it seem that you have a simple style with a lot of patience and Professionalism..

Your pet snake is really nice, Its color is beautiful ! What is its name ? I think it will never bite. It is very kind snake.

Really cute! Happy to know he's gaining good health now.
