5 Reasons why Davao City Philippines sucks!

in philippines •  7 years ago

Filled with controversy, ill wishes and a case of a trail of misfortunes! I as a Dabawneyo am proud to list down the 5 reasons as to why Davao City Philippines, sucks! Let's get to it!

Reason #1
It sucks at NOT keeping the crime rate down!

I don't really have to go to statistical here, but man! I will never say that this is a crime-less city but I definitely feel safe! I can walk out at 4 am and hold my phone out, take pictures and not have to worry about some random guy passing along and snatching it! This is not to say that this has never happened. I know of some friends who have been victims of snachers here and I was even robbed at gunpoint! However what I am banking on is the fact that it has never really happened again and those who dare to do the crime usually pay the time, or worse.

Reason #2
It sucks at NOT disciplining it's citizens!

In this city, ALL establishments must follow the law wherein you can only be noisy at a certain time, or serve liquor to a certain time as well. You can only smoke at designated smoking areas. Recently implemented was the use of pedestrian lanes and j-walkers will be fined! I think the most famous ones are the different speed limits put around the city, making sure the roads are safe and less accidents happen! I know, it sounds like rules rules rules! But hey everyone is a lot safer, happier and disciplined because of it!

Reason #3
It sucks at NOT engaging the community!

Did you know that the fabled tyrants of Davao City, the Duterte's are known for allowing people of the opposite stand in governance, to conduct rallies, set up some posters and really voice out their beliefs and what they stand for in public and even give them permits to do so. This then makes the rallies regulated and everyone is heard. Respect begets respect! The government also has programs that directly help the needy, the specific cases and people who just love what they do. I'm talking about artists here. Who ever said this is a city wherein you are forced to keep your mouth shut and your opinions to yourself has obviously never been hear and get their news from someone who lives far away. Take it from a Dabawenyo.

Reason #4
It sucks at NOT developing it's economy!

This one is both a blessing and while not actually a curse, can be a huge pain in the arse at times. The city is Booming! What used to be a laid back city with no actual heavy traffic has become a busy bee with business popping up everywhere! High rise buildings being planned and set up, people getting exposed to excellent ways of doing things and ultimately investors, investing! I think the reasons above are really to blame for all of this. But yeah we need to do something about the roads and public transportation. The good thing about it is we are heard and the government is already doing something about it.

Reason #5
It sucks at NOT producing leaders!

The Philippine President was the Mayor of Davao City who eventually helped what was before labelled as a killing field of a city, into a budding paradise for it's people, neighboring cities and the Philippines. I don't even need to name him on this post. You know who he is. If not use google please. Aside from him universities here are always producing top notchers. Companies are able to expand further because of good employees and all we get at the end of the day is a city brimming with life!

It's not perfect, but I would live here for good. I guess that's what sucks the most, you just can't leave Davao City Philippines!
