It’s been more than a month since this project has been on hiatus. This account has been active with an unpopular method of curating, flagging abuse posts. It’s a lengthy discussion about responsible use of Steem Power but the end point is just as good as upvoting posts of authors deserving of being rewarded.
While the original plan for this project was to support Filipino quality content creators on steemit, the trends in the platform have changed. Before, there was scarcity of posts that were worth valuing due to the amount of effort authors have placed into them. Now, the posts often found are half baked and the worthy posts come from the same authors that were recently featured. I’ve tackled about quality of posts in the previous blog Allergy to Quality

The dilemma is consistently upvoting the same people instead of more focus on new steemians that need exposure the most. But browsing through the sea of pages is as laborious as finding high paying abuse posts. You see, active curation is one of the life blood activities in the platform. No curators means no one to see value in another author’s work.
The blockchain offers a limited amount of STEEM and SBD that everyone needs to engage in a tug of war for (the reward pool). This is where responsible use of Steem Power comes in. If people wanted to increase the value of STEEM and this platform, they need to be responsible about what ecosystem to promote. Compared to a system where people only support their close knit groups from people that have an open system of sharing their resources, which do you think has a healthy approach to community building? Between these two systems, which one is more inviting and worth investing into?
But that reality is too idealistic to grasp and we know that most are just looking out for themselves, that’s fine, it’s a decentralized blockchain and you’re free to do what you want with your stake. Just saying there is a possible way to make some aspects of this platform less shitty than what it is.
I have come to realize that the best way to grow is not being constricted to one project/community. The blockchain offers a lot of social opportunity to connect with the world and to confine what resources this account will ever have would be underutilized.
This communal account will be doing two important things:
Upvoting Quality Content Creators
Flagging/Downvoting Abuse Posts
Upvoting Quality Content Creators
I will be reviewing the list of featured authors in the past and their current track record of consistency. Those that have maintained their streak of consistent quality will merit a small percentage of automated upvotes from this account.
There won’t be a grand announcement of who gets to be in the list. Any author who fits the requirement will be upvoted by a portion of this account’s voting weight out of the blue.
This account will be following curation trails whom I trust to keep a track record of promoting authors worth the upvote in the platform. I’ll still be doing my part in curating posts manually and seek out new authors worth the follow and upvote.
This account would also be expanding it’s reach from Quality Filipino Content Creators to everyone else on steemit (an upcoming addition to the project, still working out the details how to do about). No featured posts from this account anytime soon though but expect automated upvotes on selected authors (Will build a list and check it twice, and will be checking reevaluating the list every 2 weeks)
Flagging/Downvoting Abuse Posts
Flagging is a form of curation. A curator determines how much value something is based from their own objective criteria set. Naturally, abuse post that consists of plagiarism, spam, cop/paste, and collusive vote farming posts have no place in the blockchain. I’d rather vote for posts from authors that try to improve their quality of posts than a single plagiarism masterpiece.
For every damn reward that goes into the wallet of an author that just milks rewards from the platform, is a damn reward that should have been into another steemian that works hard for their content on the platform. That reward could have made artist feel appreciated for sharing valuable work on the platform, made a writer become confident about their outputs, or make a musician feel proud about their song but no, it went to an abuse post and filled an abusers pocket all because no one did their part to flag.
A quick shout out to the team at @steemflagrewards community and @steemcleaners for doing their part in keeping the platform free from abuse. There’s more work to be done and more to come if the blockchain’s value is raised.
This account has thrived from the support of delegators that continue to believe in its contribution to the platform. I don’t want to emphasize the rewards for delegating to this account for delegators but it is an incentive to encourage more people to put their SP into good use. Rewards are computed based on how much this account’s earns and a portion is kept for supporting possible projects.
If you chose to delegate some of your SP to this account, expect rewards will be distributed infrequently. I have other several things going on with my life and this project is one of the things that compete for attention. All rewards this account receives are recorded in the blockchain. I have no means to make up the numbers and everything can be tracked especially wallet transactions.
I will use your SP to upvote content creators and flag abuse posts in the platform. That’s the best way to put what you can expect from delegating to this account.
Congratulations! This post has been upvoted from the communal account, @minnowsupport, by Adamada from the Minnow Support Project. It's a witness project run by aggroed, ausbitbank, teamsteem, someguy123, neoxian, followbtcnews, and netuoso. The goal is to help Steemit grow by supporting Minnows. Please find us at the Peace, Abundance, and Liberty Network (PALnet) Discord Channel. It's a completely public and open space to all members of the Steemit community who voluntarily choose to be there.
If you would like to delegate to the Minnow Support Project you can do so by clicking on the following links: 50SP, 100SP, 250SP, 500SP, 1000SP, 5000SP.
Be sure to leave at least 50SP undelegated on your account.
