Dear Diary: My Ringing Ears is One of my Fears

in philippines •  7 years ago

Today I had some medicine for pain and I won't take one as I am a dialysis patient and most of the time a single dose is okay enough for me to last a few days. The medicine that I took is strong enough for me to get a ringing ear and it is quite really bothersome if the room that I am into is so silent, I may get mad by getting a disturbance from it so it really is essential for me to have some background masking noise in my room especially when I a sleeping.

I have had some experience overdosing with aspirin when I got so frustrated with my headache, possibly from hypertension-anemia combination a few years before I went being a dialysis patient. I just had a mouthful and it made my ears rang and I felt it as well when I went into the toilet so it was just a foolish thing to do and it was really a half-suicide attempt for a headache so severe for me during those years that I just made that regrettable feat which is temporarily worth it because it somewhat relieved my headache.

I fear that my long-standing ringing ears is a product of aluminum intoxication because of our kind of cooking pots here in our home especially for the rice which is a non anodized pure aluminum pot. If it were anodized then good, the coating will serve as a barrier for the reaction of acidic food or any food from the aluminum thereby saving the person eating the food from toxicity caused by the ingestion of aluminum.

I had eaten a lot of rice cooked in aluminum pots and pans. I also had purchased lots of coated pots and pans just to avoid the toxicity caused by aluminum but they are always scoured white by my father so I just stopped buying. It is just not good to use these kinds of cooking pots and pans, they cause harm especially for dialysis patients like me because aluminum is taken by the bones as well and weakens them. But I had told these to my family and they wouldn't listen.

If you are using an aluminum pots and pans, take precaution and use the anodized ones as these pots have a coating to protect the foods to react from the pots and cause harm to your health. I am just a victim of these somewhat "safe" cooking pots but they are poisoning us everytime we eat.

I bought coated pots as well. I also had a relative scrub them until they shined. Arnold you manage to always tell a story so well.
An informative narrative.
Even in the midst of such a tale I can visualise your dad toiling away for hours removing every last bit of that coating. I think my mother IL did that job on ours.
Some coatings are said to be toxic too now, especially once they are scratched or scoured. We have switched again to Stainless Steel.
As for tinnitus it has so many possible causes. Maybe even the cranial nerves are compressed due to your condition. An Mri or CT scan would be ideal to get an idea of what is involved. Even an X-ray if possible.

The pot I bought has this said to be more safe, a stone coated non-stick pan that I believed to be father-proof, I was wrong, my father just scrubbed it to shine again.
Stainless steel is one of the best. I was planning then to buy a cast iron but it needs to be "seasoned" first but I bet that it will get scrubbed to shine again :/
I will never buy any cookware tho since I cannot possibly cook anymore.
I guess any toxin that cannot be removed by dialysis is the culprit of my tinnitus plus some pain medicine that I take too.
I would soon get a head x-ray maybe or a scan, I don't know how I can send a copy for you @girlbeforemirror

If they cannot give you a digital copy maybe you can take pictures on the light box at the doctors when they review films.

Ok it might work and I gonna have to ask my brother to do it for me.
I only have a tablet with 2 Megapixels camera. I don't have a camera phone.

Tell the doctor to do it and tell her to email to you via her clerical staff

OK Ma'am I will.

I know its not that simple, but worth a try. I tried several times to get my scans from a hospital. The last time they tried to send me away I lay down and refused to leave until they gave me a disc.
I'm a pain in the ass patient. But no-one else has the same urgency about your health as you do. AND THAT DRIVES ME CRAZY!
My protest worked. But dramatic I admit, but it got results. And the results. 😁

Ha ha I think they will send the orderlies to drag me out if I do your stunt.
I think I can request a copy.
