As my 100th day celebration in this community, I held 100th day Celebration | Coffee Story Writing Challenge - Win 5SBD.

There are only 4 entries but their stories are really unique and never I expected.

My Coffee Story

Being born without at least a wooden spoon in my mouth, I started drinking coffee shared with my mother as early as 8 years old. Back then, I don't know why but slurping coffee on a spoon from my mother's cup is very delicious for me. I even pour coffee over rice and it brings me joy whenever I have it as my snack. It is like my a sweet dessert for me.

Back then, instant coffee from Nescafe is all I know and is become sweet when mixed with few scoops of sugar. When I grew up and become one of the hippest teenagers, I still long for my mother's coffee. Before going to school, while the matriarch is preparing our full-packed breakfast, her mug is being left empty because I already drink them all.

During weekends, I always asked for her to make me a cup coffee. Because no matter what I do, I can't mimic the taste of her coffee. I even made her one sometime which she didn't like and replaced. So I asked her how to make her coffee. The answer I got is...

You cannot have a girlfriend yet until you can make one great cup. Because serving a good taste of coffee is providing a great and full love. In your case, you do not know how to love yet.

How did having a girlfriend becomes an issue for not making a good coffee?!

But even I already had a girlfriend, I still drink her coffee in the morning. That is always the routine, though that time, she's already making another cup for me so that she could enjoy her own cup.

Then I started working as a barista in a small coffee shop in our city named Baracco Café. The coffee shop is using Liberica Coffee from Amadeo, Cavite, which back then, I don't have any idea what it is. I did not stay long in that chain because of the POS issue of the owner, So I search for another job.

I didn't search for any barista job, all I think is to get a part-time job to support my studies and my Ragnarok gaming. Lol.

Under the heat of the sun at 1:00 PM along EDSA I walked to search. Across the "biggest parking lot" in the Philippines, there I saw a green colored channel lettering with a brown interior and logo of a siren smiling at me. I do not what Starbucks is during those times, but along with the name is "coffee", so I thought it is a coffee shop.

Upon reaching home, I pull up my email and oh, what a coincidence. I received an email from the siren inviting for a mass interview.

I went and got hired. Started being a barista last August 6, 2007, and assigned to the branch along the "biggest parking lot". The branch and the siren that smiled at me while I am in search for a new job.

Many of you have read this story of mine becoming one of the people wearing a green apron behind the register and espresso machine. And many of you read how I become successful in this field. But none of you have read about why did I stay and love what I do.

My mother told me that in order to deliver love, one should know how to make a perfect cup of coffee. With Starbucks, I learn the different types of coffee, how it grow and that coffee has different flavors according to its origin. hmmm. I studied these things as part of my job description. And partly to learn how to make a perfect cup and one day comes that I will be the one making coffee that is full of love for my mom.

I read and research. Green Apron turns to black when I was certified as Coffee Master. I even become the District Coffee Master, the one who conducts coffee seminar among the districts' stores.

Until the day comes that I was able to serve a cup of coffee for my mom because I pour my heart into it. Not just for her, but for my grandmother, aunt, and my wife. I served the best cups of coffee to my family while we were discussing the plans for me and @essiehime's wedding. There I see my mom wearing the most beautiful smile while enjoying the cup of coffee that I made for them.

I only use instant coffee that time. Lol

#Coffeestory winners

As mentioned in the rules of the contest, I and @essiehime will only choose 3 winners with the great stories that involve coffee. Yes, we only have four entries, so it is my sincere apology for the only one that will not win in this contest.

Again, I don't see my self to be the good writer, so it is the story that matters and reasons for winning this contest.

Each winner will receive 5 SBD from no other than me, myself and I.

Congratulations!!

She had an exciting and funny adventure of having a taste of the most expensive coffee made through civet's excretes. The coffee was named Kopi Luwak. I hope someday I'll get the courage to taste this poopy, I mean, coffee.

There's a bit of betrayal here as he started his story through being a fan of tea. But you'll fell in love with this man how he connects the aroma of his cup to the smile of the most special someone of his life. He also features some coffee shops creating 3D latte art.

How awful it is to end up being one of the patients in the psychiatric hospital because of searching for a coffee to start the day.Lol. Though I can become insane without having at least one cup a day.

Thanks to all who joined my contest, the post about this contest did not earn much of upvotes but it is not important for this one. I love reading all your stories and I am hoping to host another contest some other time.

Goodnight everyone!

Thank You!
