As a Filipino, I am very proud of all of our Filipino cuisines. Anywhere you go in the Philippines, there are various sorts of Filipino cuisines that is not only famous for the locals but for the tourists as well.
Whenever I get the chance, I urge my friends in the Metro to have a taste of our local Ilonggo dishes. As for my foreign friends or guests (it's not like I have a lot however), I always find the opportunity to let them have a taste of our amazing dishes.
This particular week, I had a Japanese guest who was very eager to have a taste of Filipino cuisine. He was able to have a taste of kare-kare and chicken inasal. On his last day of staying here in the Philippines, I accompanied him to a restaurant, Bacolod Mang Inasal (partly because it's one of the nearest ones in our office and partly because I am a proud and a hearty eater of our Ilonggo dishes).
Our guest wanted to try the adobo since his first day here in our country so he ordered one. Adobo was one of the dishes I suggested at him to try.
Here's how our conversation went the moment he tried the adobo.
Him: Oh this tastes good.
Me: Of course it is. All our food here are good. (with a grin on my face)
He just smiled and agreed :)
KBL (kadyos, baboy,langka) is one of the famous and favorite dishes in our province. Despite staying here in Manila for a while now, we always ensure that we still cook KBL in our house every once in a while. It's our own way of bringing home here in Manila.
For the finale, we ordered turon (which came with a scoop of ice cream and leche flan). The ordering of turon was influenced by my guest's wanting to try some Philippine banana. Since we were not able to buy some fresh ones, at least he was still able to try it somehow. (I think he really liked it because out of the 3 pieces, he said I can only have 1.lol)
After eating, my guest said that he better get back to Japan real soon or else he'll totally forget about his diet here in the Philippines with all the delicious food we eat. He thanked me for the warm accommodation and for all the delicious food. It made my heart happy knowing I was able to share with him the wonderful and rich Filipino cuisines that we have.
Thank you for dropping by. ❤
All the best! {always}
