There are many hostels to select from in Siargao.Depending on your preference you can have it with or without air-con, inclusive of exclusive of breakfast ,with Wi-Fi or not etc. With this we opted to stay in Avocado Tree Hostel for our first night as its near our island tour meeting place and we want to be as comfy as we have few more activity filled days to think of.To be honest at 800 per head dormitory bed air-con at that it wasn't that bad. Just that you don't have the privacy I am so accustomed with.IMG20190428100548.jpg

So where is this place located?
Avocado Tree Hostel
Barangay 4, Surigao del Norte, General Luna, 8419, Philippines -
Phone: +63 917 501 4800

That's how it appears from our online bookings. It's a walk from the restaurants, ATM, public market, laundromat and church. Best part, it's artsy too. See the details they put in much effort of.

Just a peek at the lobby you'd know you're in tropical themed hostel carefree and eco friendly among other things. I couldn't help take a selfie picture upon arrival.

I like the way they utilize natural light to illuminate the place. And how they make everything else feel cozy down to their comfort rooms, lobby ,bedrooms and kitchen with murals, ornamental trees and appropriate fixtures and color combinations.

Check out their fan rooms. The green drapes to provide you some privacy is soothing to the eye and also relate much to the name of the hostel. It's not crammed up that air can ventilate well. The downside like the air-con rooms you'd have to be comfortable with mixed accomodation. IMG20190428141837.jpg

Check their kitchen where you can read books and cook your own meal a convenient idea if you're staying long time. The sad story though is with the influx of foreigners it created a demand for seafood that it shoot the prices that locals can't afford it no more.I guess same can be said of the lots .

I was amazed at the way they constructed the roof in our accomodation.Circular and from indigeneojs grass material I bet it commands more manpower ana capital cost than just doing the modern way

With earthquakes every now and then Iit was a comfort that the whole structure was made from light materials of "cogon "grass roof ,concrete walls covered finished with rattan on its exteriors and glass sliding doors. At least it won't be much of a head injury at worst case scenario.

It was a cool idea to have the lockers at the center for everyone to see. Providing individual chargers in each bunk is also being mindful of a backpackers need to go online and power up the gadgets. What I couldn't adopt fast was the idea that every now and then someone comes in and out of the room. IMG20190428142237.jpg

My favorite spot was outside our bedroom where there is a cushion seat, hammock and a long lazy chair and Chinese bamboo for accents.IMG_20190428_145426.jpg

So just in case you're in a lookout for place to stay this makes for a good suggestion. So here we are my friend Zhyryl in our last day striking a souvenir post. IMG_20190429_053833.jpg
