I love the ocean. There are many reasons for this love, but you will not understand it the way I understand it. I'll just try to describe what I like.
Let's start, perhaps.
We will not dive very deep, literally 5-10 meters.
What do we see? And we see beautiful views, consisting of algae and animals, which most of the time stand still,
Hunting for nearby swimming fish. Here and there are corals, which are houses for colonies of polyps.
And we see shoals of fish having a variety of colors, which float somewhere, following a herd instinct. Red, blue, green - all of them are beautiful.
But this is not what I wanted to show you. We'll go down another 500 meters.
And we will see ...
And we will see very little. We are now at the maximum depth to which light comes. Below is absolute darkness. But before that, we'll get to the next. As I said, here we see very little. There is only water and rays of light around us. But why should we see if we can hear? Listen carefully - somewhere the whale swims. For me, the whale is a symbol of the ocean.
His deep singing permeates the entire ocean, exposing emptiness. In the head of thoughts come to mind, we are alone. Some in the whole world.
I think we need to go even lower. We will dive immediately to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. 11.000 meters. 11 kilometers can be considered a small distance, which we pass every day. But here this distance is huge.
There is no vegetation here, since light does not penetrate here. If we turn on the lights, we'll see strange things. For example, you can bring fish that have devilish teeth. They have two purposes - to devour and multiply. They devour all that they can. Truly disgusting creatures. No less strange are the bacteria living in sulfuric acid.
They feel themselves, strangely enough, quite perfectly.
But the corpse of the whale, fallen from the surface - a separate spectacle. All sea bastards immediately cover it with ink, I eat it in a few hours.
But all this fades before them. Sea creatures, old as the ocean itself. It is impossible to think of them without servile reverence.
For example, take one sea god from the work of Lovecraft. He has a huge green body and no less than a huge green head covered with tentacles. He sleeps a dead dream at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. Thinking of him, I understand: When he wakes up, there will be an end to everything. Absolutely everything.
Imagine also a giant squid,
Sitting on a huge rock on the ocean floor. A powerful being. When it eats, it does not hunt. Pisces as if rushing to meet him, meeting his death. He looks at us with curiosity. It can not see us, but sees.
Thoughts about the ocean bring me melancholy. But, despite this, I love the ocean.
