Today, 19 November, the Church celebrates the feast of Saint Mechtilde. Born into a wealthy family in Thuringia in 1240, Mechtilde followed her older sister into the convent.
A prolific but secretive writer, Mechtilde was afforded great graces due to her holiness. She wrote about her experiences, including her physical and spiritual battles.
