Spend One Day as a Lion

“It is better to live one day as a lion than 100 years as a sheep.”

― Benito Mussolini

Most people spend their lives stuck in second gear. They squander their potential and don't live their lives to the fullest. The worst part about it, people forget about their dreams. Why? Why should you forget about your dreams and spend your life fulfilling the dreams of others? Who says you can't make it in life doing what you really want? That would be those bloodthirsty wolves talking. They don't give a shit about you. They will just use you if you let them. You can say society is sophisticated as much as you wan't, but it is still a fucking jungle out there. Until you treat the world for what it really is, you will probably stay a sheep and squander your potential.

What can you do for yourself if there are just a bunch of wolves waiting to eat you for breakfast? Be a wolf too? I say be a lion. That doesn't mean that you have to use people to get ahead. That means that you bow down to no one. When they say jump, instead of saying how high, you say, "go fuck yourself." That means you are in charge of your own life. Do what you want, and you will make it. Living a lifestyle like this is hard work. It won't be easy, but the rewards are there.

What is the true measure of success in life? Is it money? Stuff? Fortune? Fame? That's what a rich person would say, but they're just selling that. And it is working. The only true success in life is making an impact of your own, and doing it the way you want to. This seems like such a simple concept, but most people don't realize this choice is even available.

Some of my idols make up a band. This band is called Rage Against the Machine. Music is a beautiful thing you see. Every person loves music, one genre or another. When a band like Rage Against the Machine comes around, its not only the people who want to hear the message that hear it. People that don't even know there is a message in the first place hear their music, simply because they like music. This is called guerrilla radio. Bands like this sneak up into the music industry, then BOOM! You have an American tour, every concert, thousands of people are screaming, "fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!" When they were asked to shut up, they got even louder. That is taking control of your life, and that is not bowing down to anyone. Even after RATM's breakup, the band members continued to move people. Tom Morello, the guitarist, went solo and played folk tunes. Zack de la Rocha recorded a solo album titled "One Day as a Lion." More recently, three members of RATM united with members from Public Enemy and Cypress Hill to create a new group called the Prophets of Rage. They launched an American tour in response to Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan called "Make America Rage Again." My point is that these guys never backed down, and it has payed off. I will admit, it takes a little bit of luck to make a difference like they did, but you can still be a lion and make a difference in your own way. Just live your life the way you want. Even if it is only making that difference for one person. Even if it is only making that difference for yourself.

1000 years in pic. 100 years in title. Other than that enjoyed the quote and post!

I believe 100 was the actual quote. I didn't make the picture, I just liked it. There are a lot of variations of that quote though...
