Charles Malik Stresses the idea of man existence. Man must acknowledge and accept the world where he find himself in. Initially, he must comprehend that he exist. According to C.Malik, understanding this idea which is the first step leads to the second step. Also, understanding this idea shapes the action of man. C. Malik argues that man's ultimate goal is inner-peace. ” Man will certainly keep on struggling-struggling for the highest prize, which is certainly peace". The beign of man and peace are in a complementary relationship. Therefore, if man turns his back on his creative origins he would be in conflict with the world. So he must struggle to reach and create peace of his beign and also beign a caring beign.
Martin Bubber defines man's beign in the direct contact and experience with the person. He explained his idea through detailed relationships. For example, He dissolves the “I” ,which refers to the person, in the “You” which refers to the other person. By establishing his point of view, man can enjoy his own experience and therefore affirms in a direct way others. And both sides grants their own value. This is clearlt seen in the following statement "Relation is reciprocity. My You acts on me as I act on it."
The two main ideas of C. Malik and M. Bubber can be seen as a form of complementarity.
C.Malik's idea is that man must settle his inner conflict which will pave the way for him to control himself and therefore achieve peace and harmony. On this idea, Bubber meets Malik when he also think that man should concentrate on his internal side in order to reach his 'beign'. Also by only concentrating on the basic word "I-Thou" man can make positive relations with others.
