Would you still be you if everyone in the world thought you were someone else?

Using John Locke's paradigm, i have argued that what makes person 'A' 'A' is the fact that he is conscious of himself. So consciousness by that theory determines who we are because our ability to remember who we are irrespective of the body we find ourselves is what makes us this and not that person.

But in life we cannot deny the possibility of anything. What might seem impossible today is only a work in progress.

But imagine a situation where there is a saviour in a community who died by accident but the people know nothing about the incident. You visited the place as a mere tourist but the people are already taking you for their saviour because you look like him. What would you do? Will you remain who you are or make a switch and become who they think you are? Do you think you will remain yourself in this scenario?

In another scenario, you are a known person but you had a problem which require a change of identity (your face). After undergoing the surgery, you look totally different from what people know you to be. Now when they see you, they see a new being different from who they knew. Would you still remain 'the you'  that you are or you will cease being who you are because they didn't see you as such? Will you change so that they see you as the 'new person that you are by look' or you will remain who you are by consciousness?

This looks rather tough but we always have a choice to either move with the crowd or remain who we are because that is what defines our existence.

What do you think? Would you make that switch to be who they think you are or you will rather remain who you are and damned whatever they think of you?

Your take on this topic would be appreciated!

Thanks for your time. Your boy @smyle the philosopher.

Most times when we find ourselves in some certain situations, very many of us would want to make a switch and become who they re not. There is a saying that power and money are two things that can make people stop being who they are. Well, you may never know until your true personality is tasted. As for me, i may not totally change but of cos in the face of money, I'll surely not remain who I am. There will be little changes but surely positive changes.
