Folk omens about mountain ash

in photo •  5 years ago

Mountain ash was well known in ancient Greece. In the past, mountain ash groves were considered sacred and it was forbidden to cut them down. Priests and prophets settled there, built shrines to the ancient gods. It was believed that mountain ash promotes communication with higher powers. This tree was endowed with magical power to resist witchcraft, disease, and the evil eye. If you look closely at the berries, you will notice a five-pointed star, and this is one of the oldest pagan symbols of protection. In the territory from Great Britain to the Urals, girls liked to string red rowan berries on a string and wore this natural jewelry as a talisman necklace. If a cradle is made of a rowan tree, not a single sorceress can harm the baby. People also noticed that when a sprig of mountain ash is lowered into the water, the water tastes better and does not deteriorate for a long time.

Rowan tree at home is considered a good omen. If it fades for no reason or is cut down, this is a bad sign.
