Even though I had a scary experience on my first trek, it didn't stop me from climbing again. But this time I made sure that it was not as difficult as the first. Half of my group were first timers so we chose the beginner level mountains. Mt. Gulugod Baboy is located in Batangas. We travelled early in the morning so we can reach the summit before noon and hit the beach in the afternoon.
When we got there, we registered first and was given one tour guide. Our tour guide was an eleven year old boy. Way younger than anyone of my group. He said being a tour guide somehow helped him in his finances as a student. So basically the trek was smooth, no major obstacles along the way and not so hot even though the trail are mostly open areas (no trees as shade). We reached the summit as scheduled. A group of mountaineers were already there when got to the top. They were just sitting and enjoying the view. I mimicked their actions. It was like doing yoga up the mountain. It was so serene. Fresh air and good view.
We didn't stay long as we have a scheduled beach trip right after. It was a good half day being one with the nature, being away from the pollution and chaos of the city and being in a quiet place. Definitely not my last mountain climbing experience.
