THEN AND NOW IMAGES - ThrowBack thursday - See how I've progressed

This weeks organizers of @photogames challenged us to share some Then and Now type images to show progress on photography... so I joined in the fun.

SELF PORTRAITS - NOW AND THEN

Back in the day with a 4mp casio digital camera which I had no clue to really use so i set it to like 1mega pixel to conserve space on my card. Then i came home from that trip to europe and learned some mad photo editing skills and came up with this sepia goodness... haha

I've since abandoned sepia forever and chose some more unique locations and even when colors are muted in my scenery I can still pull some out.

ENGAGEMENT PICTURES : THEN AND NOW

Figured I'd compare these two because they're both at locations with similar stone and looking at eachother.

They just kinda feel similar and yet obviously 10+ years of experience later. I'm pretty proud at my very first ever photoshoot for other people... but obviously with sevral hundred shoots under my belt I've improved

LLAMA PICTURES : THEN AND NOW

One of my first ever road-trips with a DSLR compared to a huge photographic adventure to bolivia. The two pictures are pretty similar but skills were a bit different.

RELIGIOUS ARCHITECTURE : THEN AND NOW

This first picture was one of the pictures that gave me confidence it was one of my best pictures from 3 months of traveling in Europe that very first year with a digital camera. I framed that sucker and put it on the wall and people loved it. Now just a couple months ago I went and did another morning shoot at a religious building with a reflection and let's just say things worked out a bit better.

SPORTS IMAGES

Looking back that was a very difficult setting to do those hockey shots. But also looking at the settings of my camera that night and it was clear I had a long ways to go with my skills. Contrast that to taking pictures of my friends playing volleyball last week. I knew exactly what to do with my settings and angles and the colors were way way better.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY : THEN AND NOW

Both of them are nicely framed images through the trees... but the first one was like 13 years ago when I was a groomsman for a friends wedding and I was barely just starting in photography(Yeah i was pretty proud of myself back then... they were actually looking at the hired photographer and i was just getting snap shots).

Now the other one is a technically challenging panorama with some crazy fall colors I love it a ton!

You can tell I came a long ways in defining a particular look.

You gotta love those Llama's! That a good skater keeping his head up driving to the net. I remember that great volleyball pic. I'm hoping my photography skills improve... someday. Great post @jarvie.

Thanks! I don't know too much about hockey but seems like that would be the case.

I love the engagement and wedding photos. I guess way back, there weren't much editing softwares. I see more life in your NOW pictures. ♥

I think your current style isn't as good as before. If you ask me I think you've taken a few steps back.

I was just kidding - I couldn't help it!

I love the progress you've made. As artists we should strive to get better every day.

Keep up the great work brother!

Well, you certainly did evolve! You created your own style! Keep it up! Looking forward to see another comparison in ten years! ;-)

wonderful photography. nice camera shots. thanks for @jarvie

Gorgeous photos! I especially like the llama, the portrait, and the wedding ones.

Love this idea! That first shot is classic.

Very cool look at your progression over the years.
