PLEASE READ THE RULES BELOW - this is a different version of the Musical Monday game we have played in the past.

Music Match Monday Photo

Running to the sea...

Music and photography share a strong bond in my mind, but not always an obvious one. I listen to music constantly while I'm out traveling, often alone and driving from location to location, and so I strongly associate some music with certain photos, even though there's no obvious thematic connection. Each trip has had its own playlist, a few songs that stuck out and were repeated over and over and eventually became the soundtrack for the landscapes I was driving through. This song by Röyksopp and Susanne Sundfør was one such song on my 2012 Icelandic adventure (the photo is from Vestrahorn, in southern Iceland).

RULES & HOW TO PLAY

For MUSIC MATCH MONDAY we would like you to share a piece of music (can be written lyrics or a link to a sound file or music video) AS WELL AS your own photo (or artwork) to go along with that music. We want to see how music inspires your art.

We will be judging your entries based on how your photo “matches” or fits the music that you chose, not on the technical quality of the photo. Try to convince us: feel free to write a description or story telling us how the photo or artwork relates to the song in your mind.

  1. Share your music and photo in the comments of the Photo Star’s post.
  2. Only one entry per person on each Photo Star's post.
  3. Each Photo Star will choose their winner.
  4. For this game you have 2 days to play (Wednesday 6PM EST / 11PM UTC).

SCORING

  • Each Photo Star will choose five winning song-photos and award them with the following points:
  • 6 | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2
  • (Max points allowed per person for this game is 18)
  • Winners will be added to the Photo Games Leaderboard
  • The total prize pool is 110 SBD and will be awarded the point leaders at the end of the month, as described here

I wanted this to be personal. So here goes all of me. . .

My favorite little person ever.

I've sung this song to him since he was born. The beach has always been our special place. And well . . . It's the piano guys. So I think I now have all my favorite things put together in a single comment.

I love this version!!! This song always makes me cry for personal reasons... always! But I go between crying and smiling with this one... <3

We are in a cyberpunk era, late night. Neon lights everywhere, lots of magenta and cyan. You are a photographer crowling the streets of the big city in search for inspiration when you see a girl near a bar, iluminated just by the neon sings. She works in that specific bar and went out for a cigarette break before going home. Your only luck is that beeing in a cyberpunk era you have the tech to snach this kind of a portrait from a great distance, but the downside is that you dont have time to ask whats her name. The distance was too big and she finished the cigg before you reached her location and vanished into the night

Hehe, well played, turning it into a story with a soundtrack. :D

Lovers Lane , Cavendish, PEI
I listened to Hagood Hardy's Anne's theme from the Anne of Green Gables soundtrack so many times on repeat (on CD) before I had the chance to visit Prince Edward Island last year and walking along Lovers Lane at the back of the Green Gables House reminded me of the music I enjoyed so much. I am not sure if Hardy himself had been there but the soothing instrumental really fits the quiet peacefulness of the woods.

Oh, nicely done!!! :D

Thought you might like it!

This is great! Love Anne of Green Gables too.

Yeay! Another kindred spirit!

Yes and someday I hope to visit Prince Edward Island like you did.

You will love it there

This week for #photogames we are playing music match. Eight years ago I hear a story on NPR Lebenon's Voice of Hope about Fariuz. She sang about her country and her love for her country. They played Li Beruit. What a beautiful song and she has an incredible voice! Since 2010 I have listened to this song hundreds of times. I don't know Arabic, it is the music and voice that moves me so much.

I love my country too! There are many things about the United States that make me wish I could sing a love song like Fariuz did for Lebenon. Whenever I fly into Reagan Airport in DC and walk to terminal and see this flag I am touched with the love I have for my country and how blessed I am to be visiting the nation's capital.

Yeah, that's a wonderful song, Sara! Great entry!

Somehow not knowing what the words mean almost adds to the value of it. I love a lot of foreign anthems and traditional songs like that. Does the US have something like that? American the Beautiful comes to mind. I don't think Canada has a song like that...

Yes, America the Beautiful is a great song and I feel that patriotism when I listen and especially sing it!

As you know I rarely edit just one picture but a whole theme of pictures. So here's the blog associated.

The song that goes with it is this one:

And the first pic is:

This song was made for us (it feels like it) about our journey... the simple life "calling" (or screaming) at us! ; ) This was one of the blocks of land we were looking at...

how music inspires my art? well most of the time quite literally. this was made 2015, one of my first uses of record mod on a DSLR and i installed and editing program to edit this. so i can say my first video.

and the photo inspired by all that

This market is not in Senegal but in Morocco, but somehow I always connect it with this song :)

I forgot that I love Manu Chao. Thanks for the reminder!

Ok fineee, I have a match for you...

I love music combining the live instruments and electronics. It creates some tension, and one of this tracks works well with one of my moody photos.

There is something about 'home' in this photo: Dutch roads, rain (always!), the never-ending water that has beaten us down many times before, the clouds...

There is, for me, always a huge chunk of 'home' in this Dutch song:

Parts of the song literally translate to 'It rains harder than I can handle', 'it rains harder than I can drink, harder then the ground can handle'.

Gosh, I wish you could listen to the lyrics, but well, you'll have to believe me if I say these two songs for me display the exact same mood :-)

I could not associate the connection that you say that they have the photo and the video, but if I agree it's a good photo and a good music video

I have no music but thats an epic shot.
