Everything about me

Well, I don't like to shoot the portraits too much and especially selfies. I don't like posing, my kids hate posing, so usually, all of my portraits are spontaneous. I just catch the moments.

However, it is the Season 2 of @photogames in the air and one of the most challenging and exciting games of this week is ASSIGNMENT - SELF PORTRAIT.

And it is what I like this games for. You should go beyond your usual borders and try something new.

Initially, I thought about something more traditional maybe in one of my usual locations like the woods. But it wasn't challenging enough for me. So, instead, I came up with a deeper idea.

Process

I needed two shots for the final image. The first one should be the image from the back I would display on the tablet and the last shot you will see. I used my phone with Sony's Play Memories as a remote control. This way I could control on the phone what is in the frame. The first shots were easy to take. I was happy enough with them. The photos synced to my Google Photos, and I could quickly display them on my tablet.

Making the final shot, I should hold the tablet in front of camera checking the image on the phone in another hand, trying to align everything and make the proportions more or less correct.

When I was checking the result, I realized, my t-shirt wasn't good enough. It needed to be visible there are a front and back on the final photo. I found a pullover and repeated all the process. It didn't work either. Finally, I decided to wear a shirt (here comes the iron).

The last round was good. I got the shot I was happy with. The final image is one shot. I just edited it slightly (bw, dodge/burn, grain).

Result

I think most of the people expect to see the face on a selfie portrait. "How could anyone even know it is you?" they could ask. But when I showed the selfie to my wife, she said: "It is so you." And she knows me best.
