ABOUT THE PHOTO

I took this photo where I was standing when I took it. It was at a place. Tell me where that place is to win. You have until Friday 6PM EST.

RULES & HOW TO PLAY

For Where is it Wednesday we would like you to Guess the location of the photo

  1. The closest guess will win the prize, be as specific as you can!
  2. Only one guess per person, per post.
  3. No editing your guess - you have to commit!
  4. All metadata has been stripped from the pictures, so don’t bother looking for the EXIF!
  5. We are not required to tell you what kind of camera was used, or what time of day the photo was taken at, or whether filters were involved (this adds to the mystery and the challenge!)
  6. For this game you have 2 days to guess (Friday 6PM EST / 11PM UTC)
  7. If only one person gets the correct (or closest) answer they will win full prize pool
  8. If multiple people guess correctly (tie for 1st): 80% to first person / 20% divided between the next 2 people
  9. If no one comes up with the correct location, the prize will go either to the closest guess, or (if no one is even close) we keep the prize money for future games.

Madagascar?

Diamond fork canyon

Montana?

Seeing as Montana is the fourth largest state that's a pretty large area to cover, and I was really, really close to Montana when I took the photo, probably within a couple miles of the border so I have no choice but to crown you as the WINNER!!! Congratulations!

Lol, thank you... I have no idea where Montana is or how big it is... but I'm going to make a point of having a look now! :D Thank you again from the other side of the world!!

Ah yes... it is a fair size area... it appears it pays off to be vague sometimes, that was as good a guess as I could get. Montana looks to be of similar size to Victoria here in Australia. Good challenge!!

Arizona

Texas

No clue! But you either did something really clever or you forgot something ;)
I will go for "near Lake McDonald", Glacier National Park, Montana

Hehe, I've gotten clever. I knew somebody would pick up on that.
Not anywhere near Glacier. 😊

haha, thought so... didn't really look like glacier NP, but couldnt find anything remotely similar... you need to give us something to work with!! ;)

What did you see that we didn't? I'm curious : )

check the name of the file (url)

Ohhh... clever and tricky!

the date matched with this version of photo-signature. However, style of naming the file didn't make sense and he's smart enough to be aware. So it was a bit of a red flag... thought it was fun enough though and really had no clue where it really could have been.

You have amazing detective skills!! :D
There was very little to go by the in the photo... it was a tough one!

Gorgeous photo... impossible challenge if you don't know the US that well :D

I don't know the US at all...
I've never left Australia but I enjoy the challenge of trying to figure it out! : )

You know, if you hadn't guessed diamond fork canyon, you'd have won with this photo cause it's pretty darn close, BUT rule #2.
