Friday Favourites - Photo Games Season 2, Week 4, Game 4

in photogames •  7 years ago  (edited)

Win points from each @Photogames Star’s post by sharing a few of your favourite things.

The rules are below - but first, a reminder that you still have until Saturday at 6PM EST to play #TruthseekingThursday and Sunday at 6pm EST to submit your ACTION photo for Thematic Tuesday to win big points towards the 110 SBD prize pool!

Friday Favourites

Show me your favourite PHOTO FROM OTHERS

The top photo shows a group of friends on a boat celebrating Kingsday in Amsterdam, earlier today. There isn't a direct link with my version of this game. I would just like to see more people on our @photogames party boat!

So my theme for this game is OTHERS!

Why? Because I think that we will only grow and learn more if we keep looking outside our own box. So it makes sense to look at others. Let me ask you, what inspires you when you scroll through Steemit? I'd love to see a link to your favourite photo that you found on this platform! And the nice side effect could be that the accounts behind it get inspired to join our games.

(Hint: if you can't find that one post you are looking for, you might like using https://www.asksteem.com/ to search Steemit. )

RULES & HOW TO PLAY

I don't have a specific theme apart from the fact that I want to see photos by other people than yourself. In the comments, please let me know what photo you chose and a short explanation why and how it inspires you. Does the photographer have a skill you are trying to master? Do you admire his/her creativity? etc etc. Make sure you include the accountname of the photographer!
I will be judging on both the quality of the photo and the explanation.

  1. Only one entry per person
  2. For this game you have 2 days to play (till Sunday at 6PM EST / 11PM UTC).

SCORING

  • Each Photo Star will choose to award the following points for 1st through 7th places:
  • 7 | 6 | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 1
  • (Max points allowed per person for this game is 28)
  • Winners will be added to the Photo Games Leaderboard
  • The total prize pool is 110 SBD and will be awarded to the point leaders at the end of the month, as described here

Oh I don't even have to think about this...
Hands down this is the one for me, @gabyoraa's photo!

This photo hit me instantly... I first made a connection with the photo taking on my own interpretation before I read the real story behind it. I found it powerful, yet calm and controlled but also full of fear and sadness. This young lady could be the one struggling or be the true fighter. In some ways I think a lot of woman could connect with this image in one way or another on a personal level.

Then after a reading Gaby's blog, I was touched and completely blown away. I suddenly had this much higher respect for the photo and for Gaby. I was in awe of the passion and dedication Gaby has for her home, her land and her fellow citizens. This situation is one that I can only try to imagine but through the sharing of Gaby's photos and experiences, I am so much more aware of what is happening outside the waters that I am surrounded by and for that I am thankful to be here, to be meeting people such as Gaby and for the learning we do each and every day we're on here.

Here's @gabyoraa's link if anyone missed reading it and wishes to.

YES! This shot is amazing indeed <3

The shot, the story and the woman behind it! : )

Nice @jayclar30. Gaby has beautiful, moving, powerful photos and experiences.

Thank you @sjarvie5, yeah it's hard to always find the right words to descried an image like this and the story behind it, words just don't seem enough... it really is feelings more than words! : )

Oh wow, I'm just seeing this. This really got to me. Thank you so much @jayclar30 I'm speechless.

Hey : )
You are SO VERY welcome!! I often feel that too after seeing and reading your blogs... you're got a beautiful soul that shows in your images and how and what you write. And an amazing fire in your belly that I can only admire you for. xx

I think one of my favorite people I have ran into because of random searching on Steemit has been @thuylannguyen

It's so cool to see all the daily life stuff in Vietnam.

I think this one is my favorite because it was one of the first shots I saw from her.
https://steemit.com/photography/@thuylannguyen/wheel-of-the-sun

Apparently she's still very young and I expect some great stuff from her in the future. She's also very friendly and speaks great english.

I found her on your feed and amazed by her pictures too.

I came across this shot yesterday. I can't remember how, I think he commented on a photo I was looking at and I went to his page? Or perhaps someone reposted his photos? Either way, I checked out his profile and fell in love with this shot. I love the framing and the color pallet and the edit style. It's like Mr. Robot mixed with a Norman Rockwell Painting. 😍

@mjphoto

Yeah! I agree with the Rockwell feeling. Nice find! :D

This is AWESOME! I now follow @mjphoto, thanks for sharing!

I'm following him now too. Thanks for that!

Oh, mine! That is the hardest game ever. There lots of fantastic photos on steemit!
But I think this one by @kieranstone hit me most of them all. It is absolutely epic!

Thank you! Glad you like it!

Thank YOU for this masterpiece!

WOW!!

if i for some reason don't go on a trip tomorrow i will maybe edit this for someone that is active on steemit, but on the first read i right away thought about @vonwong . the work that he is doing is just crazy and if you never heard of him you should check him out.
I don't really want to share his photos but you can check it out on steemit HERE

This photo is by @shieha, one of my favorite photographers on Steemit. Most of his photos are landscapes, but he also has great animal photography and street photography. These are the types of photos I like most too. When I first joined Steemit I liked reading his photo tips and explanations of how he set up particular shots. They were helpful and inspiring.

Thinking back on the pictures that have seen on Steemit the three months I chose this picture by @NathanielWise. It captured my imagination to what it would like to wake up in this location with that view and hear the water so close by. I am not a camper. Nathaniel's amazing pictures of the Pacific Northwest make me want to start camping so I can be in nature and see and take pictures of nature like he does. He also has a great way he edits, very unique to him.

Oh I am following him!!! <3

I don't know if the intention was to bring in new people to the #photogames. If it was, then uhm . . . oops?

The thing is, that once I saw your post, I already knew who I had to mention. He was one of the main reasons I stayed on #steemit. I still remember the first photo of his that I saw. It was mind blowing. He inspired me and till this day, makes me push my limits into being a better photographer. And I can say now that not only is he one of the best photographers I've seen, but also an extraordinary guy.

Thank you @derekkind for all the support, for being so kind and fun and for your mind blowing awesome photography. You are undoubtedly my greatest find on Steemit.

Well, gee, @gabyoraa, how do I respond to that? I can't even find an appropriate LotR quote in response. All I've got is a lame and insufficient "thank you." I'm so glad you stuck it out and stayed on Steemit: you belong here. And the feelings are mutual, mi amiga.

<3

I can totally agree with this... : )
Derek would have been my 2nd choice... I don't know which photo, any of them if I'm honest!

For this game I choose this shot of @raoul.poenar that I’ve seen some days ago. I think it’s one of the best shot that I’ve seen here on steemit.

Full post here.

WHOA!

Yeah I saw that photo too and was amazed. @raoul.poenar is really amazing

Thank you so much guys, really appreciate it! :)

I had to dig a bit to find back this photograph, but here it is:

It was made by @goanve in this post: https://steemit.com/portraitphotography/@goanve/senora

Now, from her comment I sort of guess she doesn't know this person intimately, but still it feels like an intimate picture. Like they have been drinking tea together and this is the portrait that came out from that spending of time together. It has a sort of documentary style I very much love and it feels like a very real, honest, unedited picture. The woman in the picture is gorgeous and is glowing.

Of course you must love her purple shirt :D

The photographer is a 22 years old Colombian woman who has posted a few more more gorgeous pictures, although her posting is irregular and she hasn't posted for a while. I just now decided to drop a comment on her last post to encourage her to show more :-)

Hope you like the picture, it's fun to show stuff from someone else! A lot of photographers get overlooked, so I decided to post a picture outside of our 'main circle'.

What a sweet lady.
