What's a monolith?
Actually, the word monolith comes from the Greek word “monolithos”, derived from mono (“one” or “single”) and lithos (“stone”).
Zuma Rock is a large monolith , an igneous intrusion composed of gabbro and granodiorite , Nigeria’s answer to Australia’s Uluru monolith is Zuma Rock which lies north of Nigeria’s capital Abuja and is easily observed by driving the main road from Abuja to Kaduna. Zuma Rock is more than twice as high as Uluru, rising an impressive 725 meters (2378 feet) above its surroundings.
The stroke that breaks the camels back is that, Zuma rock is surronded by myths! Yes! Zuma Rock has natural contours on the surface which depict the image of a human face with a visible mouth, eyes, and nose. The natives, believes its the gateway for afterlife. The rock is mostly famous because of the face on its surface.
The rainy season in Nigeria comes with another myth surrounding Zuma Rock – it is believed that the apex of the rock often catches fire. Natives attest the happenings to the wonders of the deities and voodoo spells. This is not scientifically proven!
The famous Zuma Rock features on Nigeria’s 100 Naira currency banknote which is also featured in the interesting Spanish series "Money Heist". It is also higher than the height of Nigeria’s popular Aso Rock and Olumo Rock put together, and more than four times as high as Nigeria ’s tallest building.
Here is my experience! Its an awesome experience and i hope you love it!!!
