Spoliarium

The Spoliarium (Gold Medal, Madrid's Exposición Nacional de Bellas Artes, 1884)


The painting shows dead gladiators in the Roman Colosseum and are pulled by Roman soldiers.

This huge work of art(dimension: 166 in × 302.2 in) using oil in canvas is found in the National Museum.

It was painted by Juan Luna, one of the most decorated and recognized Filipino artist.

According to history, it took Luna 8 months to finish The Spoliarium.


These photos were taken during my family tour in the National Museum, the Philippines.

The photos below were taken in 4 diferrent views and were processed using LR5.

@allmonitors. sorry am too late for this, rumor had it that the red pigment of that painting is a mix of blood and oil paint and there was a story about . I forgot it already.
