The Photographic Impulse

in photography •  7 years ago

You’re walking down the street and see something and think to yourself “that would make a great…”, bread basket? no, automobile accessory? no, consomme with potatoes? no. You reach for some sort of photographic devise and fumble with it’s settings to capture the vision of that moment.

Millions cheers as you stand perfectly still, hold your breath. The shutter blinks (or the equivalent fake sound) and then, in a split second, perhaps something changes and you quickly adjust and again you “snap” away filling your devise with golden moments.

Ah but then what? Even if your camera is completely robotic, did you catch it?

Catch what?

The impulse.
