Time of the snack ~ L'ora della merenda ~ Eng./Ita.

Today is a cloudy day here in Brazil my dear steemians,
so better to take a ride in a nice supermarket and have a snack,
with the many typical dishes, present in the rustic department, and enjoy one of the best beers produced in Brazil, Blumenau, where most of the inhabitants have German origins, including the producers of this excellent weizenbook, from 8% vol. which comply with a disciplinary purity of beer created in 1516.

Oggi é un giorno nuvoloso qui in Brasile miei cari steemians,
quindi meglio fare un giro in un bel supermercato e fare una merenda,
con le tante pietanze tipiche, presenti nel reparto rustici, ed gustarsi una delle birre migliori prodotte in Brasile, in Blumenau, dove la maggior parte degli abitanti ha origini Tedesche, compresi i produttori di questa ottima weizenbook, da 8%vol. che rispettano un disciplinare di purezza della birra creato nel 1516.

While my wife, like most women, is more attracted to sweets and a cappuccino, I go to the salty, with a coxinha (a kind of arancino with potato batter and frayed chicken to the middle) a croquet of dried meat and spices, breaded and fried chicken pieces, and others in a mini version. But the strangest thing is the ''maria mole'', made with transparent jelly, sugar, warm water and a sprinkling of coconut.. very soft, good and funny!

Mentre mia moglie, come la maggior parte delle donne, é piú attratta dai dolci e un cappuccino, io vado verso il salato, con una coxinha (una specie di arancino con pastella di patate e pollo sfilacciato al centro) un croquet di carne secca e spezie, pezzetti di pollo impanati e fritti, ed altri in versione mini. Ma la cosa piú strana é la ''maria mole'', fatto con gelatina trasparente, zucchero, acqua tiepida e una spolverata di cocco.. sofficissima, buona e buffa!

At the beginning, I found myself a little lost with the different foods, flavors and ways of cooking in Brazil. Me as a true Italian free-range, I was used to Mediterranean cuisine, pasta with sauce, bread, pizza ect.. certainly not lacking here, although as far as pizza is concerned, it is only necessary to turn to real Italian restaurateurs! And I try to alternate with the classic rice and beans here, good.. but when the desire for a nice plate of pasta is heard, it is difficult to resist!

All'inizio siceramente mi trovai un pó spaesato con i cibi, sapori e modi differenti di cucinare del Brasile. Io da vero Italiano ruspante, ero abituato alla cucina mediterranea, pasta al sugo, pane, pizza ect.. certo qui non mancano, anche se per quanto riguarda la pizza bisogna soltanto rivolgersi a veri ristoratori Italiani! Ed io cerco di alternarli al classico riso e fagioli di qui, buono si.. ma quando la voglia di un bel piatto di pasta si fá sentire, é difficile resistergli!

Guys talking about food, I do not know about you.. but I was a little peckish! Anyway friends.. if you like me have decided to live abroad, you know how to adapt, you are tough or not.. your Italianicity will always come out! Indeed I will tell you more.. you will have a more profound and respectful vision of your distant homeland, with its many problems, but with its many historical, cultural and gastronomic riches! I could say that I feel more Italian today that I'm out of the office, than when I lived there in Italy.

And with this little self-reflection I want to end my post today, with the invitation to discover and try new flavors, without abandoning our tradition of food and wine, which I think is the No. 1 in the World.. and certainly not the just presumptuous to say it! :D

Ragazzi parlando di cibo, non só a voi.. ma a me é venuto un certo languorino! Comunque amici.. se voi come me avete deciso di vivere all'estero, sapete adattarvi, siete dei duri o meno.. la vostra Italianicitá verra sempre fuori! Anzi vi diró di piú.. avrete una visione piú profonda e rispettosa della vostra patria lontana, con i suoi tanti problemi, ma con le sue tante ricchezze storiche, culturali e gastronomiche! Potrei dire che mi sento piú Italiano oggi che mi trovo fuori sede, che quando vivevo li in Italia.

E con questa piccola autoriflessione voglio concludere il mio post di oggi, con l'invito a scoprire e a provare nuovi sapori, senza abbandonare la nostra tradizione eno-gastronomica, che ritengo sia la n° 1 al Mondo.. e di certo non sono il solo presuntuoso a dirlo ! :D
