Compromised Dock

For some apparent reason people are still allowed to sit on the sides of this dock area. Which should be dangerous considering some parts are completely caged off. I'm assuming the roofing had become compromised because of Hurricane Sandy. Which seems to be one of the many mysteries plaguing New York till this day. People seem to forget that the subways were completely flooded through the entrances. Yet, everyone rides the trains as if nothing wrong could have happened from those events. I mean, I'm sure everyone remembers the viral rat video were they were filmed crawling all over a sleeping man.

Which wasn't the norm prior to 2012 and currently the train system has admitted to having problems with never ending delays week in and week out. Can you take a guess why?

Wards Island Shelter

Another story that went unnoticed was the fact that there was a homeless shelter / asylum in a place called Wards Island that had faced some troubling times when this happened because of sever flooding. The island is isolated from the city and boroughs with only two means of exit. However, considering how low the rivers are there it's highly unlikely that anyone was going to take a chance using those inconvenient routes to leave.

The island looks like a million bucks now a days after reconstruction but by the looks of it you wouldn't have ever known something like that went down. In fact, it could even be seen as a travel spot for tourist to check out if they wanted to try something different.

Other areas that was wiped out was the ship docking areas on the west side. There was also a mall effected on the easy side by wall street which was designed to stick out into the river. Which kind of sucked because I would say it was one of the coolest spots to visit in the city.

Hell, it was so cool that people could just board ships and catch yellow cab boats that traveled from borough to borough. Like literally designed like the classic yellow, white and black taxis of old for only like 5 - 7 bucks per ride.

Wards Island Shelter @ Night Time

But hey, it's like they say nothing can last forever even though we don't expect to see it in real time. More stories to come about this subjects as I continue to rediscover my city this summer.

Thanks for reading and don't forget to leave ya feedback!
