Birds in the Finnish winter

You see what that is? It's a bird. I shall call him birdy.

In Finnish the species name is Tilhi, according to Wikipedia it should be "Bohemian waxwing".

In Winter time, it will get super-duper fluffy and soft.

I was walking past some bushes where I saw a bunch of birdies eating some berries.
They noticed me quickly and flew to a tree nearby.

At first I could see only one, the puffy-fluffy-superpuffy-birdy.

I looked a bit more up and saw these weird looking things in the trees.. and they were a flock of birdies!

They all had gathered in one single spot in the tree, except the lonely birdy.
All of them could have had a really nice amount of space for themselves but no.

This is one of my favorite birds! They are very pretty! :)..Great post btw!

Thanks! I haven't been very much into birds before, but as I've got more excited about photography I've started to notice more birds and their specialty.

However, I've always been a tits-man, as I've always thought tits are truly fine birds.

Tits are always nice! ;)

That tree looks so funny with the birds in. It looks like they're growing on the tree like some kind of strange flower.

When I was a kid we had a pet chicken that would fly out of the coop every night, go up to the second floor deck, and then fly to a tree. It would be hanging out in the cold like that all winter. Smart chicken. Later that year a raccoon got in and killed his buddies and he was the only one that survived.

That's what it looked to me too at first. I had to zoom in with the camera to notice they are actually birds.

Well done smart chicken - even though if the raccoon wouldn't have come, would we still call the chicken smart? It'd just be the weird chicken that flies in the tree every night.

Good point!

Looks so fluffy. Where do they live usually? I didn't see birds like this in my country.
By the way sorry for not upvoting, I need to increase my upvote power so I even stopped my Steemvoter, and my upvote is only 0.01 SBD for now. I will keep following you and upvote your future posts. But I want you to know that I like this post.

I know they are living plenty at least in Finland, they are the type of birds which can remain in the area through winter. They are typically not as fluffy, but they turn very fluffy in the winter. The fluffiness will help them stay warm in the cold climate!

Also, don't worry about upvoting. Just remember, not upvoting does not help you build SP but only saves your VP, which is replenished 20% every day (upvote costs 2%). Remember to check your Voting Power from steemd or similar services (https://steemd.com/@hungrybanana)

And yes, I don't mind if you don't upvote. Commets matter more :)

Ahhh, now I understood how they're so fluffy.
About upvoting, I always check steemd, but I want it stay over 80%, that's why I decided to not upvote all the time. And my upvote seems like doesn't effect much, I will comment instead. Especially in these days...

Omg so fluffy im gonna die! <3_<3 pörrrrrrröisiä ^^

Ehkä minäkään en ole pullea, vaan vain pörröinen!

pullea ja pörröinen!

Tai tarpeeksi syönyt :)

Omg, so much birdies :) Very nice set of photos. Lonely bird maybe wants some free time. Animal world is so beautiful, amazing! Have a nice day my friend.

They do look really nice in the winter! The lonely bird seemed happy too, so I'm thinking they all were glad.

What happened to that lonely birdy? Did she fight with her boyfriend?
I also haven't seen those birdy in my country. Maybe those are Finnish specific :)

I found a map where they typically should live :)

Also, the lonely bird might just have got lost. Seemed to be doing ok though!

lol loving these bird names you came up with

You know I put a lot of work on the names. I'm happy you appreciate my hard work!

i felt kinda drawn to this post because we´ve just moved to a new area and we have a huge tree infront of our balcony. Everyday in the morning there are 2 squirrels chasing each other up and down and one crow on top of that tree "singing" his morning routine :-)

I like the cute fluff balls you got there. Do they make cute peep sounds, or is it more like a CAW CAW!? <3

Are you talking about birds or something else? :P

They do not make cute sounds, they are fluffy only for the winter. They are more like CAW CAW and nothing cute and peepy.

very lovely birds

Thanks, I like them too!
