Holarrhena pubescens is a plant species in the family Apocynaceae,commonly known as the pubescent Holarrhena. It is native to India,Nepal,Bangladesh, and Bhutan.The flowers of Holarrhena pubescens are small, about 1.5 cm in diameter, and are white or yellowish in color. They are fragrant and bloom in clusters at the tips of the branches.The fruit of the plant is a long, narrow capsule,which contains numerous seeds.Holarrhena pubescens is known for its medicinal properties and has been used in traditional medicine for the treatment of various ailments such as fever, diarrhea, dysentery, and diabetes.The bark and seeds of the plant contain alkaloids,which have antimalarial,antidiarrheal, and antihyperglycemic properties.In addition to its medicinal uses, Holarrhena pubescens is also used for its wood, which is hard and durable and is used for construction,furniture,and tool handles. The plant is also used for landscaping and as an ornamental plant in gardens.
