Nature in Black and White: Volume III

in photography •  8 years ago

Do we see the beauty in colorful objects and detailed images the same when color is removed?

Here are more images from my adventures in nature...in black and white, of course.

What do you think? How important is color to you and your interpretation of nature and beauty? How do you interpret the flowers in some of these images? Which colors do you think they are? If you could no longer see colors, how would that affect you? If you are colorblind to a more extreme extent, please tell me how these images compare to your normal sight.

All images were captured/edited by me.

I really enjoy your photography, as per usual, but this article has a very special content of questions rather very interesting... Thanks for opening up the valves that way and allowing us to inter-relate with you on the subject matter.

Colour is almost like a living thing in itself in my mind and portrays many different dimensions of our relation to the world. It definitely has importance, yet, I would not end my life if I ended up blind. I'd sure miss them though!

I find, in some of your pictures i.e. #5 & #7, maybe even more interest seeing them in black and white than I would seeing them with colours... The subject matter finds a new wealth.

Thanks for the sharing and opportunity to dialogue. Beautiful shots too! Namaste :)

Personally I find that black and white often adds something to the photo because it simplifies the image to to it's essence - the interplay of light and shadow.

That's true. I also find that it blurs some lines that are more distinctive with color and can have an effect on depth perception as well. The image of the pine cone and the tree two images below it demonstrate this.

beautiful.
great post, @ats-david

Thank you, apidkizza.

You made so great photos that I didn't realize the absence of colors! This post is amazing! Great work @ats-david!

Thanks!

This is great... I always enjoyed doing B&W photography. I had some great shots of ivy growing on the ruins of an old factory...wish I still had them.

You'll just have to take more photos of it. Go on a little weekend trip!

North Carolina is a LONG way. I'm trying to remember exactly where...Rockingham, I think

Great shots and interesting post. I love color in most everything but in my mind there are some pictures that are more impressive and capture the idea being presented much better in black and white.
