Who does'nt love Bikes?

Is there anyone here?

Well, I dont see any hands raised.

Bike can be the fastest way to zoom through traffic and get from point A to point B while at a city, also at the same time , There is nothing like gliding down a mountainous terrain on motorbike as you hear the engine roar while the cool winds kisses your face.

It's this Wild feeling that mesmerizes me.

I love it!

Very often while I go backpacking, I opt to rent a bike to visit unexplored places where the GPS stops working, while the map in My Heart takes over.
Its during these riding moments I feel in sync with the universe and start contemplating about life, eventually coming to a realization that its the experience that matters, not money. These are the times when realize who I am and what I should be doing.

These Journey's can be life changing, like it did for Che Guerra in Motorcycle Diaries.

At the end of the trip while I reach home safe and sound with these experiences, Its the feeling of great-fullness that i have towards the people behind the scenes who ensure that I have a safe ride. These are the guys who often go unnoticed.
Yes, I'm talking about our bike and safety gear manufacturers along with our go to Mechanics, which in my case is this guy in the picture named Anthon Dha.

Anthon Dha fixing a customers Bike

It was on a Saturday while I was living in Mumbai, a friend challenged me take pictures at cramped up place and insisted me to take his bike to Anthon Dha's garage. I accepted the challenge as I had nothing planned for the next day.

(Note: I never owned a bike, but always used a friends or brother in laws bike like it's my own:P)

It was during this challenge I True realized how cramped up was this place was, but wasn't really surprised by it.

Why if you ask?

The garage was located at Andheri in the heart of Mumbai city. It's a place where you find really cluttered buildings and people fighting for every inch of space while they walk around the streets. Anthon Dha's garage had an area of 60sq feet which was understandable in that location.

Do you know what this means?

Cramped up location meant I had to be stuck with my wide angle kit lens for most of the time, while occasionally switching to zoom lens when i need the close ups.
In short it was Hard Work, But i wasn't only one working hard there.

The Real Hero

Anthon Dha was the real hero behind the scene who was sweating it out just to make sure that his costumer had safe riding experience. For him this was just another day at work, while it was just a one day shoot for me.
A Mechanic is one of the thankless jobs in our society, most of time we forget acknowledge their hard work.
One nut missing in the bike could mean a fatal crash.
So always remember to greet and thank your Mechanic with a hand shake or hug , every time you reach home safe.

You are telling the truth @backpackingmonk in this good and interesting story. I love to ride too and you really depend on your mechanic and have to trust him.
