☝️One of the many advantages shooting RAW format in Photography.☝️

in photography •  7 years ago

One of the advantages shooting RAW files is that i can save those files as negatives as it pertains all information that sensor has recorded unlike JPEG that is a compressed file format that optimizes the image before saving it to JPEG and then discards the rest of information to reduce the file size.

What i like to do sometimes when i have free time is to open my archive and pick an image from back of the day and see how did my style changed when i edit it today. Sometimes otherwise crappy looking shot can get back to life when imbued with new editing skills that you earn throughout the years of experience.

Do not delete the files if you are shooting RAW. Buy a BIG external storage device as they are not that expensive anymore as the memories that you have captures will have more value when some time passes and trust you'd love to get back to them from time to time and refresh it with your new skills.

Thanks. I need to get an external hard drive to start saving all my photos.

I already did, and consider it one of my best investments this year. Made life so much easier as i can dump all the files on it for the storage.

I do the same thing! Its amazing what you can get out of an image years later when your post processing skills have changed and improved :) Always shoot RAW!

Exactly! I am so excited to see that there are so many more people that do it, usually they are top tier level togs :)

I cant imagine not shooting RAW. I wish my phone shot in RAW! It definitely signifies a change in attitude when you do, its like you are saying 'ok im taking this seriously now'.

it does give a lot more flexibility indeed. Any newer phones do, so when you will be upgrading keep a look. Do not shoot raw on my phone for some reason...

good to know! I will keep a look out for those :)

Raw is a giant step. the evolution of my photography began when I started to use this format a long time ago, thanks for the report, regards @bescouted

It does indeed the way your final images look like when you start shooting raw and editing it for the final touches.

In edition, the rough it is a forward and of great handling, no doubt

Awesome work and thats something I also like to do

I often do it if I get in a bit of a slump I look back at work from a couple of years aback and do a re edit and also at the time compare who my style and technique has change din that time and I generally find it gives my motivation a little kick

Indeed, it is really a nice thing to do and go through some of your older images with a new kick.

:) have a good week ahead

Did you know even phones shoot raw these days?

Sure i do. In the essence every digital sensor takes a raw reading. but it used to make no sense to write additional software for the smart phone because of storage requirements. Now once it is cheap it makes total sense. Most new smartphone cameras shoot raw, but frankly i use my phone camera just for quick snaps...

YES to RAW all the time (I wish I could do it... but I am not good enough for that eheheh) LOL

You do not have to be good for that or bad for that. It makes no difference when shooting but gives much more flexibility when editing the images. Which you have to learn if you want to improve.

True I know that much... but right now my editing skills are shit! LOL So if I have a higher definition/quality image It will make even more difficult for me to edit. Because every single detail will be way more accentuated. :D But yeah RAW it is way better :D

It's not about the detail. Is more about how much information is left in shadows and highlights. and if you are saying that your skills are shit, then learn and improve. Unless you do now have such a desire to become better at photography of course. It is not for everybody.

I have been delaying and leaving my dream behind and haven't been investing. But that is changing as we speak. And I just need to create now the situation where I have the time (and money...mainly to pay my bills) and at the same time invest in myself and my passion. But I think I am in the mindset that will allow me to do it all now! :D

All you need to invest mate is time. I know sometimes it is a very expensive commodity. just do not be that man who always plans and wants and never actually does.

Thank You so much for the wise words and the motivation :D Awesome man

When RAW talent meets RAW files you get Pure Magic.

You get RAW money then :)

Indeed!

Awsome click and keep it up ❤️❤️

Great post!
