How To Scan Negatives with a Any Digital Camera (Phone, DSLR, Compact)

I have a bunch of film negatives from way back, taken with Compact No Name AF Point and Shoot Camera and i wanted to try to scan them. So how to do it with stuff you have lying around your house.

You will need:

A box, i used a shoe box

Make a hole on one side, approximately 4x4cm (1.6 x 1.6 inch)

Put some white paper in the box (the paper is for defusing the light, you will put some source of light behind it)

Make a film holder (i wanted to make it easier and tried to use a plastic film holder but it is to thin and it will fall apart)

My second take on the film holder. Made from thicker paper, just bend it and tape it stick. Make it a bit bigger then the film, so it would be easier to move in it.

Put some kind of light in the back of the box (i used LED Light Stick). Go as close you can with your camera and take a photo.

After some editing here are the results. I have to try to scan some negatives from a better camera, to see how it will turn out.

There is a need for some more testing, maybe to try something other for defusing the light, tring some stronger light, scanning some negatives taken with better camera.
