In Bulgarian, the word for meat is месо [meh-so], but just as in any language, slang words are common -- and often the most appropriate diction in the circumstances. Мръвки is one of those words that exist in every language referring to meat (in the plural, no less) -- and usually the greasier, the better.
Another fellow bulgarian here! 😊 Nice to meet you. :) I don’t know why but your post reminded me of the video made for the Bulgarian EU Presidency showing so much of what bulgarians are and the beautiful nature. Maybe caus I relate the word мръвка and your photos to these small things that make us unique as a folk. Have you seen the video?

I love my Bulgarian meat, but I think I prefer meso over mruffka, and I tend to stay away from the sausage for dietary reasons. Thanks for teaching me a new word, though! Priaten den :)

Mruffka is used for all types of meat. Sausage isn't the healthiest, perhaps, but when it's cured traditionally, it's much safer :) Priaten den na teb!
