March
While I was watching tv program, it came across my mind that I wanted to work with matches. The program was about fadeaway of match factory of korea. At first, I intended to make a documentary by visiting the only match factory left in Korea, Yeongcheon, Gyeongsangbuk Province. But I’d rather decided to focus on matches themselves.
I think that my perspective on something disappearing and the visual should be properly harmonized.
I wanted to find a meaning from fading fire.
I put charcoal in the background which has its own meaning.
I tried to maximize displaying match’s twisted form. In this work, with overall dark background, a glimpse of red light became the focal point.
Everything fades away ...
A match has a symbolic meaning to speak for it.
