✿Echium✿

Scientific Name: Echium candicans
Also known as Vipers Bugloss

KMG_0305.JPG

I came across purple echium on my walk near the ocean in San Diego CA

KMG_0302.JPG

& Lots of it!!

The name echium comes from the Greek, ‘echis’, ‘viper’.
& the plant is said to repel venom and hence to cure snakebite. Ironic? I think not!

Echium is also one of the tallest flowers reaching heights of 6- 8 feet!! It can be invasive though and is super hard to get rid of because you have to dig up the roots, which can be as deep as they are tall!!! Crazy

Thanks For viewing! `

Beautiful flowers! I love how the little purple florets are in rows, it seems.

You are very talented. @cainplant

Wonderfully made drawing. Very artistic. Keep up the good work.I follow you. @cainplant

I don't "love" flowers... specially that one. Attract too many bees and vesps and I panic everytime I see one! Lol

I can't help but think of Dennis Moore, Lupin Bandit!

Cool.
I didn't know that and the colour is soothing.

Great!

Nice photographs, love the color purple and those flowers look really tall!

Beautiful shots of the lupine, not the easiest flower to make look so good! I love all the info you included. I see that I probably should add a little more to mine to make them a little more interesting~ Great job~ Following~

That looks so different from the lupine that grows here in the Midwest. Fun info!
