Athens, Greece: The Acropolis

in photography •  7 years ago  (edited)

I had the privilege of visiting Europe this summer for a few weeks and we made it to Athens for a few days near the end of our trip. The people in Greece are so kind and welcoming, and Athens is really beautiful. Greece quickly became one of my favourite cities we visited on our trip.

Visiting the Parthenon was quite surreal. We study it at school, and it has always been one of those places that seem like a dream to go to. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that I actually got to stand in front of it. Despite what they have built to hold everything in place, it is still very grand and majestic. Fun fact is the pillars of the Parthenon were built with a slight bulge in the middle so that they appeared "straight" from a distance. Now you know.

There will be some more Greece photos to come!
