Summertime In Iowa. Guess What? It's Hot.

And yes, we have farms, too!

But not all of us are named Old MacDonald and sing E-I-E-I-O. We are mostly hard-working people trying to do the best we can for ourselves and our families. Of course there are exceptions, as with anywhere you travel. But a high quality of life can be found here in our state. If you were lucky enough to have German ancestors who bought vast tracts of farmland 150 years ago, you are likely doing quite well, financially speaking. Farming pays BIG, especially for those who don't owe a bank for their ground or their equipment.

A nice part of my job is that I get to drive around quite often. I go to some remote areas, and on this particular day I saw some rural beauty that I felt is worth a Steemit post. What you can't tell from these photos is that it was 98 degrees Fahrenheit as I was out and about. Needless to say, I was hot. But in the open country, the wind blows hard like a giant shop fan, so 98 feels much more comfortable there than it does in town.

Please enjoy these snapshots of rural Iowa under the summer sun.

After those hot, humid images, a swimming pool would feel really nice, wouldn't it?

That post will be coming shortly! Thanks for viewing, and have a great weekend! As I write this, a strong northerly breeze is blowing through the house, ushering in much cooler temperatures for the weekend. I am so excited to catch a break from the heat! We may actually drop into the upper 40's Monday morning, which is incredibly refreshing!

As you know, I grew up in Iowa, too. Hot and humid Iowa, with no air conditioning. I remember sweltering nights trying to sleep, sweating in bed. Putting up bales in a hay loft where it must have been 130 degrees. No wonder I became an artist! LOL

Without air conditioning would be even worse. We were lucky enough (and I am thankful) to have had AC growing up. I have a friend whose parents never had AC until after he moved away. I remember as a kid going over there in summer, and their house was so hot. BUT they had a nice swimming pool, so that was a great perk in the summer.

Nice post, and great photos!
looking forward to your future posts.
have a great day

Thank you much, @luke1219

Meanwhile it is cold in Australia and I am sitting in a heated room recovering from a cold. Shall we swap places? Nice photos!

Sometimes I wish it was winter again. But now and then we get some nice cool-downs, like this weekend. Low 70's during the day, low 50's overnight. I don't mind summer during these weather spells. Thanks to Canada for sending us some refreshing, cool air!

Glad you got a bit of relief from the heat

Me too! Thanks!

Very nice countryside. @cuntryinspired why don't your check out my Indian Island post for a comparison? My Uncle was raised in Iowa, strong man.

Will do that!

Thanks for sharing! I love farm country and all it stands for! Hard work, healthy living and good values.

You said it right! Thank you!

Nice landscape! Looks very similar to the countryside in Canada from these photos!

Thank you. Some people leave Iowa once they get out of school to search for a more exciting place to live, then they find that it wasn't a bad lifestyle here. They find that they miss the rolling hills and farms, the relatively calm and peaceful atmosphere, and they come back. I am one of those people :)

I can definitely understand that. I've grown to have a much stronger appreciation for the countryside now in my life more than ever :)

I'm sure you have. My sister @jenerallee78 left the city, lives the country life now, and absolutely loves it.

That's great :)

Great post. Nice photos.

Thank you.

Hot? In Iowa? Lol. Come down to my neck of the woods! I went out for about 15 minutes to do some errands in the yard and 10 minutes later I felt like I just got out of the shower because of all the humidity and was sweating like I was in a sauna. The best part is, it's not even hot here yet.. Not until we got days hitting about 110 degrees

I'm glad we are far enough North not to get that heat. We get below zero in the winter at times, which is also a shock to the body.

Thank you for sharing photos! Now I know what the countryside looks like in Iowa! Not so different from what is in Western Ukraine :)

I've noticed from viewing photos of other places in the world that some places look not too different from each other.
