Not knowing the context around this photo showing the window frame with the view into the outback the viewer could see those as rustic, romantic and even imagine great story that has happened behind those windows. Sometimes reality is not getting reflected correctly in a photo without the correct context.
I had a chat with the owner of the shearing shed to find out what it was like to work as shearer. Working conditions in those days as a shearer was very tough and quiet rough too. Women were generally not allowed in the shed unless serving food. The language was certainly not “Queens English” in those sheds and fights were common. All men were working very hard to make ends meet to support their families. So overall not very romantic instead hard labour was expected with little pay but some great stories must have happened in there :)
