Mask of the Forlorn Hunter

in photography •  7 years ago

Why is he forlorn? I have no idea, he just sorta shaped out that way. Using sculpture to reconstruct your own face is a lot of fun, and I think you get such a range of nuance in emotion from shaping the face by hand. Ala the claymation and miniature style that Laika works with regularly. This is the middle ground I hope more animators get in tune with in the future. Real things inserted into the virtual, it borrows wholesale the charm of craft and remakes it into whatever it needs to be.

Bonus stereoscopic render! This is crossview 3D. Just X your eyes together until a third image locks into the center of them, viola, the third dimension all over again.

Photogrammetry, scanned into Blender

God bless Blender. I love that tool.

Also simple protip (very obvious but hey) try changing the blender theme, helps mix-up the monotony of the default color scheme - science lab is my favorite.
