Camera Advice?

The famous YouTube channel "Daddykirbs" (c'mon, I gotta say and believe it, right?) has been shot with the FZ200 for a while now. I picked it up cheap after a holiday on Amazon. The camera has taken a beating as I shoot video while getting dirty in the garden and on the farm. While the FZ200 is still functional I'm ready for it to lay down and die at any moment. It would not serve me well to do without for any length of time.
So, here I am at a crossroads. Do I spend big money to get something professional or just step up to the $600 FZ300. I would love to hear what you have tried. What is your experience?
Do you have another camera suggestion that would be really good for shooting video... and not break the bank?

Hmmm a few thoughts from the perspective of a person who makes a lincoln penny scream in fright when exposed to the wallet opening and seeing outside world, #1 tax write off for the business end of production, #2 How many years do I plan on using it? #3 Can it handle everything I could ever dream of exposing it to (or do I have to coddle it)? #4 Have I ever had any complaints on my video/picture qualities in the past with the one I am using? I have had several high end cameras but the coddle factor has limited when, where I can take them, right now I use and abuse a Panasonic DMC-TZ3 it has been dropped from 10 feet down a rocky trail into a river and when dried off survived although the paint chipped it is still my goto...

HA!!! Well I seem to always be behind the curve with new cameras. I usually tend to wait until the newer version comes out and get it at a discount...I guess I do that with iPhones too.
DaddyKirbs...so what is the price range that you would say "Absolutely NOT!! That is too much." ?? And I am asking for the all in cost...camera and lens.
Then...do you EVER see yourself filming indoors or at night a lot?

Night... probably not. Indoors in my log cabin where it is kinda dark, yes. I would really like to keep it under $1000 simply because I do not have the funds. My Patrons have been good to me so my PayPal account is up around $800 at this point. To me that isn't "real money" yet because it's not in our account LOL

I'm here to say from experience (raised 5, 1 with special needs, now 2 grandkids)... you will likely never catch up on your sleep, but hearing the laughter of the kids is a real dream :)

The slightly older FZ200 fools a lot of people too. They believe it is a high end professional camera, but I only paid about $350 for it brand new LOL

You can use it for vlogging. I know that's what I bought mine for after having it recommended to me. But I use mine mainly for photography. :)

How do you frame yourself with out the flip screen? You would have to guess at your framing...or get an external HDMI monitor.

But yes, you are 100% correct. IF you wanted the absolute best camera (except the 1D) for photos...you could make the 5D work.
And any 5D Mark (i-iv) is pound for pound the best video camera you could buy. Although there is no 4K...but Canon doesn't play the spec game anyway.
***Main thing...gear is fun and all....but story story story!!!!! Which is the hardest part.

We have been using the FZ300 for several months now for our Youtube channel and personal pictures and video. It replaced our Canon VIXIA HF R700 Full HD Camcorder. The ability to shot 4k or even 1080 @120 was impressive to us. To be able to take 4k pictures was a great sale point to us also. We were looking at a Canon 70d and lenses but this FZ300 just eliminated the Canon. Battery life is amazing. There is a learning curve but it want take you long to be able to shoot 1080 @120p with stabilization.
It's the First camera like this we have used. We always used camcorders for video and point and shoot for digital pictures and a Nikon for our 35 mm pictures. It is well worth the money and you will enjoy not having to fool with lenses. We do have a few filters and a glare cap for our FZ300.
