I give Minneapolis credit for keeping the cobblestone streets that wander around in the warehouse district near downtown. Many cities don't want to deal with them anymore, especially cities like Minneapolis where a lot of freezing/thawing and snowplowing happens in the winter; cobblestone can be a pain.
Right now many of the streets in this area are being redone, recobblestoned (is that any sort of word?).
I happened to be walking around the area this past weekend hoping to shoot something minimal for the "minimal image" photo-challenge.
I didn't use any of these images in the challenge.
I do feel they are cool and very otherworldly when you look at them with an eye for that, like very fibers and backbones of some alien reality. I do like abstract art and photography.
The textures and shadowing are what keep me interested in them and the fact they look to me like something so different from what they are in regular life.
Have a look and let me know what you think/feel about them. I'd say everything from beautiful to creepy is fair game! Enjoy.
All images shot with my Olympus OM-D
1. 1/80 sec, f/5.6, ISO 200
2. 1/200 sec, f/5.6, ISO 200 (this one is B&W)
3. 1/60 sec, f/5.6, ISO 200
4. 1/320 sec, f/5.6, ISO 200
5. here are the pallets of cobblestones that these images emerged from
6. here is what is inside, thousands of bricks to make a road.
