The Easiest, Most Relaxing and Soul Rewarding Winter Sport - Cross Country Skiing - Beginner to Pro in 10 Minutes

I've never ski'd in my life and this took ten minutes to master.

Why did it take me long to realise how easy and fulfilling cross country skiing is?

We went cross country skiing last week in New Zealand and here's how it felt.

Free as a bird

You feel like walking giant, 15 feet strides with ease.

Skiing uphill works because the of the one directional grip on the sole of the skis. Much like the the difference between stroking your hairy legs up and down.

It feels like you're on journey through another planet. Nothing but white.

Using the ski tracks you can't slip sideways. Unless you yourself fall forwards and backwards

Low knee impact and a total body workout.

4 year old kids to grandmas we zipping around the tracks. You can definitely do it.

The ski's have a slide middle bend towards your foot meeting they will glide as you press down to the surface. and then forward glides smooth. Much like the the difference between stroking your hairy legs up and down.

We covered 4.9 miles (8km) in under two hours but it felt like a quick stroll in the park.

Did I mention the scenery is out of this world.

If you're afraid of snow, cross country skiing will change your mind.

I want to mountains !!!!!!!

Looks like a lot of fun. And I love the hairy legs analogy.

Last time I tried skiing, I managed to fall and badly wrench my knee, while on the beginners slope, having a lesson... But maybe even I could do this. Where in NZ was it?
