The Roman Forum bleached by snow on Monday February 26, 2018. The Roman Forum was the political, legal, religious and economic center of the ancient city of Rome. Between the 16th and 18th centuries, the area was known as Campo Vaccino because of the market of cows that existed at the time.

St Peter's basilica

The huge dome of the Basilica of San Pedro, completed at the end of the 16th century by Giacomo Della Porta after the death of Michelangelo, is one of the best-known symbols of Rome. In the photograph, dated February 26, 2018, it appears slightly covered with snow.

Fountain of the Naiads

The storm of the Arctic that has lashed much of Europe has formed icicles in the Fountain of the Naiads, in the Plaza de la República. The sculptural group, made up of four nymphs, was created by Mario Rutelli in 1901. The one that holds a swan is the Nymph of the Lakes. The photograph is from Tuesday, February 27, 2018.

Beautiful view of the city of Rome covered in snow, last Monday February 26. Two monumental buildings stand out in the photograph: on the left, the dome of the basilica of Sant'Andrea della Valle, made by Carlo Maderno in the 17th century; and to the right, the National Monument to Victor Emmanuel II, inaugurated in 1911, with the two chariots guided by the goddess Victoria.

Rome is one of the most visited cities in the world, especially crowded with tourists in summer. The extraordinary wave of cold and snow that is spreading throughout Europe this week has whitewashed the Italian capital, and other cities as tourist as Venice and Naples, leaving some unusual pictures: the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Basilica of St. Peter Vatican covered with snow and without the usual traffic of tourism.
